    CCC 11.7 Pre-Release

I have already installed it and my notebook still works :D !
I didnt notice any performance increasements until now.
My GPU is a HD5650M with 1 GB GDDR3 vRAM.
I tested it on W7-64 and it works  .

I have 11.6 and these drivers have been the best I have used so far. Performance is top notch so I don't know if I should try 11.7 yet.

Maybe I will wait, but man the change from 11.2 to 11.6 was quite noticeable.

I tried it as long as the whole 11.xx line up ... I always thought I had performance pumps and such ... until someone told me that the 10.xx is the best of the best when it came to the HD5xxx series so I said what the heck im gonna give it a try ... so I went on and downloaded extreme G's 10.10 cata ... & every single game I tried had HELL LOAD of increased frames Vs all the 11.xx line up which I now truly believe is exclusively valuable to the HD6xxx owners ...

Some of the improvements & not all:

PES2011: all the replays I used to have 35~50 fps on the 11.xxs with Vsync on ... now solid 60 in the game and solid 60 in the replays with Vsync on

The Witcher 2: I used to dip down to 20~25 on medium settings preset & 720p resolution on the 11.xxs ... Believe it or not ... now I never drop below 35 fps outdoors so for those who wanna give it a shot ...

I am sure u wont lose a thing trying the 10.10 Cata ... & keep us posted

A lot of the improvements are bug fixes and not performance. Keep in mind these aren't nvidia drivers... ati drivers typically only increase performance by ~25% total from initial release to end-of-life. 10.1 to 10.6 was a massive upgrade, and then nothing good happened until 10.10, and then nothing happened until 11.2... I'm on 11.6 now and honestly it feels the same as 11.2, but there are a handful of bugs eliminated.

I went from 11.6 to 10.5 and the result was the opposite. Worse performance. So I reinstalled 11.6

    Btw, I have a 5850

But 11.6 shouldn't have worse performance, or am I missing something?

Depends on the title ... people say the new 11.XXs perform better on DX11 titles and worse on the DX9 & DX10 ones ... that being said I still get better performance on the 10.XXs on DiRT2 DX11 but maybe cuz she is old :D ... as for dragon age 2 DX11 performance is the same

I know why 11.XX was worse than 10.XX!

Geometry instancing. It's NOT included in the driver package in 11.XX. You must manually enable it. As soon as I did that, I got better perf. than 10.10, but without that, I didn't, altough benchies were MUCH worse. Vantage, 3DM11, JC2... They were all MUCH worse! With 11.6 + SFR and GI, everything is MUCH better than before :D

    http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-136666.html

Here, it also shows how to enable MLAA, Surface Format Replacement, Geometry Instancing and EQAA. I recommend having only SFR and GI.

I have ATI 4250 IGP and tried 10.10 with Geometry instancing enabled. The performance is about 2-3 FPS worse than 11.6 in Resident Evil 5 benchmark. I have since reverted back to 11.6. The performance is now back to normal. I guess Geometry instancing won't help low-end IGPs like 4200 and 4250?
