I am getting extremely frustrated with gaming on my m1530; nothing works as it should. I just bought COD 2 off steam, and it frequently crashes. In fact, it has crashed 3 out of the 4 times I have attempted to load it. 2 of the crashes occurred during cinematics (different cinematics), and the third happened as I attempted to resume a game. What is more, the game runs far worse than I expected; I was expecting to be able to run this game at near max settings, if not max (2.4 ghz core 2 duo processor, 4 gigs ram, 8600m GT). I can run COD4 with high settings and 1680x1050 resolution at about 20 fps: with cod2, I get 12 fps as soon as I max out my resolution. Can anyone help?

    I run windows XP sp2.

Check the battery settings(set to high performance), update the drivers.

Well for one, you have Windows XP SP 2, which doesnt have all the drivers.

People actually had to find them and depending on your configuration, might not work.

I would say COD2 should work like butter.

Call Dell up and ask for a replacement if it does that in other games, try a similar one.

    Peace

switch to directx 7 rendering already.

definitely wanna upgrade your video driver first (laptopvideo2go.com)
if you insist on playing in directx 9 mode, try disable shadow, no AA, run in lower resolution like 1280X800.
