I started playing COD 4 over the summer when I bought my new laptop and didn't lag at all online or on single player. I haven't played all semester and now that I'm on break I want to start playing again, however, I tried both single and multilayer and its laggy.

My laptop is the gateway 173x fx

ok for us to help please do the following.

run a fps counter program (i.e FRAPS, xfire, etc) and tell us what kind of FPS you are getting.

You can also use the games own FPS counter by opening the console command line by pressing the "`" tilde key (the key to the left of the #1 key) and then type /cg_drawfps 1 this will display an FPS counter on the top right of the screen... keep an eye on the fps numbers until you get an idea of what your basic average FPS is and then post back.

Also what are your laptop specs? cpu and GPu?

I want to firstly thank all of you for you help, but I didn't think that the battery mode affected anything when running on ac. I changed the mode and everything is fine now. Happy Holidays and good gaming.

I'm actually kinda surprised your solution was right. I really had no clue that the battery mode would affect the computer while plugged in. It just seems so illogical.
