I think the bigger headline title would've been that the price was hiked by $10. That makes it downright expensive for a Standard Edition PC game. Sure, I'd expect $50 for a new game, but I wouldn't pay $60 out of principle, even if it were a game I'd been looking forward to.

That said, I have greatly enjoyed CoD4: Modern Warfare. It's become my favorite FPS game. But I did pay full price for it back in 2007, and hadn't played it much until late this summer. For as good as it is, $50 was a fair price, but for as good as it is, I also don't feel any pressing need to move on at this point. So I'll be sticking with it, and now that they've raised the price, I'll make a point of waiting until it's at least $10 below the $50 standard price. Maybe considerably more if I'm still happy playing the original CoD4 or whatever else I've bought by then. I'm sure Steam will have some nice sales by then that'll convince me to buy a game by lowering the price.

The price in South Africa also increased, by 25% there, although it's still less than the console version there.

You guys have it just fine. In australia all new PC games are $100, which is about $100us atm.

Unless we get it from steam.

canary: Why would you post that here!? Start your own thread please.

spradhan: I hope so. That would make me so happy. But as far as I can tell, nobody knows. Until these last couple of days, everyone thought the pc version was officially pushed back until the 24th. Many websites haven't updated their information yet.

the publisher has to pay to licensing fee to sony and microsoft.

btw, this says nothing that it is coming out on the 10. it doesn't dispute the delay. this is basically just saying its $60 instead of $50, something that was known for months. nothing new.

@apple, actually, I tried sites like amazon, gamespot and so on. They all list the release date as Nov 10. Last week, on both websites, the date were pushed back but now its the same and a good news who wants to buy MW2.

Walmart is offering MW2 for $39.82 quoted as a special buy. Yes, you heard me right. $49.82 for game-$10 walmart gift card. I know we love to shop on walmart :p

So, preorder right now and be safe from the hike.

lol grow up peter pan, or get a better job. times change, all games are going to cost 60USD pretty soon, and why wouldn't they get more expensive?everything else is! Some silly thing called inflation......

Good for activision taking the first step. Good for thier investors too :)

Blu-Ray and HD disks may have something to do with it? - but value wise I have no problem paying $10 more for a PC game than I would for a console game.

They are $10 more because they don't profit from selling next gen consoles, only through software titles.

So, since we have our own PCs, why would you pay more?

It's not that we can't afford $60, its the point that Activision is ripping pc gamers only because they can.

I wouldn't purchase from Walmart. I did preorder quite awhile ago from Walmart, then canceled it after finding out that their shipping won't be as quick as others. (well, the standard shipping)

Amazon offers a release date shipping arrival for 5 dollars-ish. Yes, they charge taxes.
Newegg offers free shipping and it will arrive on the release date. Also, it is now 54 dollars. Newegg also does not charge tax to where I live.
Walmart does not have release date shipping nor a free shipping. Their basic shipping will let me get this game approximately 2 weeks after its release. Even the fastest shipping will take a week, according to them. 10 dollars gift card means nothing to me, since I shop nothing from Walmart anyway, especially online. Plus, it will be 50 dollars + tax + shipping from Walmart, which came more expensive than if I ordered from Newegg.

Which one of these sound the best? Newegg.

Exactly. I could afford that, but they just raised the price a few weeks before the release in what's clearly a money grab, especially if the price wasn't even below average to begin with.

Plus, it's Activision. They make good games, and I'll buy them, but their whole philosophy is about milking the market for all they can. Which isn't good for gaming, and isn't something I'm going to support by paying whatever price they wish.

You know I think MW2 is like the only game this is coming out on pc that cost 60 bucks! Pretty much all the major release for PC is first at 50 bucks then drops down. Why would you congrats Activision on making us give them more money? Plus, if the game is up for digital distribution it would make sense for it to be cheaper not cost more.

I am like many others are going to wait for a price drop.

Already posted why it shouldn't be bought from Walmart.

    1. It arrives 2 weeks after its release
    2. It's actually 50 dollars with the 10 dollars WALMART e-gift card. You can't subtract that from the 50 dollars. There are people like me who would never buy anything from Walmart online (or stores)

Actually I pre-ordered first from Wal-Mart but promptly canceled my order (phone call was necessary) since it would arrive 1-2 weeks after release. My total was $65.95 w/ three-day shipping.

    Then I pre-ordered from Amazon.com for $65.95 w/ release date delivery.

Considering how much I enjoyed MW (especially the singleplayer), I think MW2 will be very well worth the $60, especially with all the new additions, improvement, and modifications to the multiplayer.

Yep, USAPatriot is correct. It is 50 bucks, then again, you have to consider the shipping time, charge, and tax as well. It goes up pretty high. (Read the delivery information on the same page... you would see it)

I took the same route as USAPatriot, except with Newegg. I'm getting it for 54 dollars, final price, and getting it on the release date. I believe that's the cheapest for me.

Forgot to mention: If you buy MW2 from amazon, you get a coupon to get 10 dollars off in the next game purchase from Amazon. It's pretty cool, if the price is right. In this case, it's about same as Newegg's price ($54 dollars vs $65 dollars and 10 dollars credit to next game)

    COD:MW2 @Newegg.com

AFAIK it ships on the release date, and amazon is the only one shipping early.

Previous 3 representatives told me that I would get it on the release date.

I just spoke with another, just to make sure, and she tells me that she can't guarantee that.

    Sigh..

Usually, retail stores like Newegg and Amazon has had them before the release dates and had them shipped early as possible. No guarantee I guess...

Oh by the way, ever since I originally posted in this thread I have canceled my preorder for MW2 because I will not pay $60 for a crappy console port with P2P matchmaking and 18-player max limit.

So actually, I'm quite bummed for what could have turned out to be a great game, I can't believe some of you will still be buying it after what IW did to us to PC gamers. Hell, just get it for a console, that's what it was meant to be played on.

To be truthful, I just lost interest in the game.
