I get this error the iw3mp.exe stop working, I tried googling it and had something about going to sound in control panel and right clicking so and so...anyway I tried that solution but to no avail. Any other ideas? I upgraded to ver 1.7 but it's still doing it.

I've got the same problem. Did you get it AFTER you installed patch 1.6 or did you have it before?

that happened to me whenever i tried to play after the 1.6 update, try plugging in a mic, or go to the mic properties and go in advanced and turn off "give exclusive mode properties..." that worked for me but i had to reinstall afterwards, because i had a corrupt file that wasn't due to that tho.

Yeah I have to plug in a mic to play on my laptop. It's a Realtek onboard issue, though it doesn't affect my desktop.

you can just uncheck to box in the properties for "give exlusive mode..." and you don't have to plug anything in anymore. there was also a way of changing a certain file extension in the miles folder to .bak

I just plug a pair of headphones in the mike hole.

It might be worth contacting Activision support, to see what they have to say about it?
