COD4 Multiplay/online.

Hey Guys

I have completed COD4 and opended arcade version, have not tried but whatever.

I want to play on line with other people but when I click join game, nothing comes up, its as if no one is playing.

I got it on wirless,

VISTA 32BIT

Make sure you're updated to version 1.5

If not, you probably won't see any servers running version 1.0 anymore.

 

Can somebody list me all the game modes in COD4 and how you play them? And what % of players and servers are in them?

I'm assuming it's something like:

TDM
S&D
Domination
?
?

 

team death match
ground war (big team death match)
mercenary team death match (no clans, no parties)
search and destroy (really fun w/ your friends)
domination
hardcore team death match
hardcore search and destroy (really fun w/ your friends)
oldschool

i think there's more...but iono, I have this game for the 360 and i have the new maps too really fun

Sabotage (Team A protects bomb-site A, visa versa. Bomb in the middle of the map)

I downloaded the 1.4, but cannot find the UK version of 1.5, can someone please help.

I had another look were it says play on-line and no list of people or servers are coming up.

Am I doing something wrong?

PLEASE PLEASE HELP.

Its the reason I bought the game.

any version of patch 1.5 will work, just google search it. also make sure you let the game connect through your internet firewall.

Got it working thanks guys, just kept to the 1.4 as cannot find a 1.5 that actually works, everyone that comes up just says wait for download and nothing happens, tried 3 sites.

Also what is the best group to join or the best game?

This is the first on-line game I have played, so not sure what the score is.

I played free for all yesterday, found it a bit pointless, as anyone could come around the corner and kill you.

free for all is pretty good... hard to find servers though...

team deathmatch is fun as well.. great great online game though.. which ever way u look at it

 

Also, look for Hardcore servers (sometimes designated by "HC"). It's a game mode that removes your HUD and crosshair and makes weapons much more deadly. It's much more fun to play HC than regular.

Loved the game, just want it to go on, and be as good, and last for than 5 seconds ya know.

 

Search and destroy is one of my favorites. Reminds me of counterstrike.

Edit: Domination is like Territories or Battlefield 1942. The more Zones you hold, the more points you get. Holding all three zones and the dude says "Domination." That's my favorite part.

 

I am so new to this, I have no mic.

So cannot hear what people are saying and cannot talk back.

Might think about buying one.

I've found very few people use mics in COD4. Unless you're playing S&D, you can do well without communication with other teammates.

 

yeah i've only encountered like 5 people that have used mikes but if you want one go for it

 

Since we are in the discussion of multiplayer talk, is it me or should the .50 cal be much more powerful. I mean stock it should be one hit kill like the awp in CS, cause the only way to survive a .50 is that you have extended health... Thats why I play hardcore a lot, but Im always finding non HC ones. O and eaves drop is pretty much useless since no ones uses their mic.

 

mic is useful for singing songs when the round has ended...

Headshot goes for pretty much any gun... O and yea on that mic thing, back when I used to play Cs 1.6 I had my friend just singing throughout the round while I play and pwn people. Good times...
