    COD4 Question...HELP

    I have been playing cod4 on line for months with no problems ,, My ping was always very good .. I just updated the game to v1.5 and now my ping is so bad I can't stay connected !! :mad: Any ideas ?? Thanks ..

    i dont know for sure but maybe ur firewall has noticed a change in the game and is trying to block it, happned with zonealarm on my firends pc on the same update

    Try snoozing your anti-virus program. I can't explain why some cause connection problems, but I know first hand that this is probably your problem.

    Or, just use the free Avira personal edition, it got a better review than the subscription ($$$) ones, on CNET. I use it without a problem after always having to snooze my Nortel Anti-Virus program.

    SO:

    1) Snooze your Anti-virus program, if that works let me know in this thread
    2) If it works, consider Avira
    3) If this isn't your solution, let me know..

    edit: Also, try always sorting the ping levels for each server you join. Then favourite those servers.

    I do not use any anti-virus programs. I do have windows firewall running but it shows to let cod4 to pass through.

    I had v1.4 before and it worked great on line ....

    hmm then try a treaceroute to the ip of Server you're trying to connect too , yet it might be that there is connection problem too

    Try updating punkbuster. Also why did you just now update COD4 to 1.5 when it came out a few months ago?

    I stayed with 1.4 because of one server I liked .. I hung out there a lot .. Its gone now so I updated to 1.5 ..

    Is there a easy way to update punkbuster? I have never done that ..

    Isn't there a 1.6 too? I'm pretty sure right as soon as I updated to 10.5 they came out with a 10.6

    patch your game to 1.7 and join the rest of us normal folk =)

    who knows,,,it might help your problem lol

    Although there is a ton of very smart and handy people here, i think somone in a specific game related forum might be able to help you a bit better..

    try callofduty.com and go to barracks, then cod4 modern warfare forums.
