I had beaten it not too long ago at high settings just fine, and recently played a few missions, no problems at first. However pretty soon I realized that the game gets massive slowdown at certain parts, particularly when there's a lot of smoke from stuff blowing up, and my FPS would drop to less than 10. I tried dropping the graphics down to medium at 800x600 resolution and it still happens. I tried playing Bioshock and it seems ok, and Gears of War is ok too though it stutters a lot. What could cause this problem? I'm using 169.09 drivers if that affects anything. Thanks.

did you change your drivers? maybe you're getting the "stuttering" that nvidia cards are notorious for.

Reinstall your drivers and see what happens.
