Weird one guys. The Realtek soundcard problem affected me in upon install in Jan., so I followed Activision and updated all drivers (Realtek, nvidia, blah blah). Game worked fine until today when the problem arose yet again. Now I have to plug headphones into the mic jack in order to get the game to launch. Any idea why the game would work for 4 5 months and then have a problem again? No driver changes or software installs since.

Completely uninstall the realtek drivers. After you uninstall it, go to safe mode and run driver sweeper, after that install the latest drivers from realtek's website.
