Ok, so i had to reinstall COD4 and i backed up my profile onto my desktop, reinstalled and put the "Players" folder back into the install file. I thought i copy/pasted but i just copied the folder, and don't have a back up. I started up cod4 and it said "error reading data, your stats have been reset." I had a backup from a long time ago on a flash drive and that one worked, but all my stats are low and i lost all my custom classes.

Does anyone know of a way to fix the original profile(that got reset)? i'm assuming it's gone and can't be recovered.

well its not too hard to level up again..but if your really lazy you can take the cheap way and do a search for a level 55 cheat...

Stats are kept player side so you wont get kicked from public servers and its not a hack per say...but its still gay =)

I'm sorry, but unless you have a older version of the file from i.e. system restore, you're pretty much out of luck, if you want to be "cheap" and go the easy way then Google "CoD4 Easy Account".

EDIT: Just so you know, the reason stats are reset is because there is no cdkey installed, you can enter your CDkey in multiplayer options or the Windows registry.

i thought about the system restore after posting and got the install folder back and copied the profile, i am now reinstalling and hoping that it works.

it's not about getting back up to lv 55, it was that the old back up i had didn't have any of my custom classes, and the kills, deaths, and all that were very low compared to what i had.

In order to keep your stats, you have to make two copies of the players folder, put it in, it'll say that error then reset your stats, then put in the CD key in the options, exit the game, then put in the other backed up players folder. The level 55 cheats won't get back your achievements, nor will you get back your kits or what you did, you'll also have every weapon and every skin for those weapons which kinda kills the whole point.. System restore probably won't fix it.
