I'm used to playing cs/cs:source and day of defeat. I've only played the demo and while it seems it fun to play and I get great fps, it doesn't really show much of the entire game.
Single play on youtube videos looks epic, but I'm not sure if I can get used to combat everywhere.
I can obviously run it well with my 8800gt desktop GPU.
Do you guys recommend it?

Well, I just picked it up myself about a week ago. If you are a FPS fan, and you like online game play, this one is definitely worth getting. Seems like single player is really short, but I think it is very good as well. The multilayer though is really really good, it's actually been keeping me away from TF2 lately!

o definitely dude... its a brilliant game..
-
Simply put, a game you wouldn't forget in all your gaming life... one for the hall of fame!!
-
yes of course a great game
-
Is a great game that completely different to cs:s.
Worth playing on both single player and multi-player -
I have to say, after the good old days of Sof 2, I thought nothing would come close. I have tried a few games in that category including Css but nothing quite had it. But Cod 4 multiplayer is definately the best shooter I have played!
Get it now! -
Now let me ask this question.
Are there a lot of servers for multi-player in comparison to cs 1.6/source.
Day of defeat is slowly dying out with the number of people playing it but it's still a great game.
I might have to pick this up this week. -
COD4 is VERY popular online!

^ My review.
Yup there are PLENTY of people playing online. It was considered pc/general game of the year of by many. -
I beleive it will surpass css in years of online play as it has many different avenues of customization ( perks, etc) and becauase of its excellent optimaztion and scalability will be played for many, many years!
-
Absolutely. It is the must buy game for 2007 (alongside the Orange box).
The multiplayer is fantastic and very deep. It is almost a mix of CSS, Battlefield 2 and Team Fortress. If you want fast-paced multiplayer action, you can have it. If you want slower-paced tactical battles, you can have that too (just go for hardcore S&D mode).
People often overlook the single-player campaign, however I think that the single player story is one of the best I have seen in years. It is truly a breathtaking cinematic experience.
COD4 is the must buy game of the year (even more so if you're a CSS fan). So what are you waiting for.
Also be sure to check out the Forerunner's excellent review. -
It should be the GOTY , in all considerations. It looks great,it playes perfectly ON MANY systems, even older ones and has a great gameplay.
-
Dude, stop reading this forum and go buy it. You won't regret it

I picked up CoD 4 and got really bored, really fast on the single player. I'm coming from a CS:S background too. I lost interest because I didn't even do most of the killing -- you'll find out that your soldier crew does most of the killing, all you're good for is throwing a nade here and there or killing a few players. Maybe the game gets better and I should pick it up again, but honestly if you're used to CS:S or other shooters, you'll be really disappointed.
-
Yup, out of the hundreds of games I have played, Team Fortress 2 and Call Of Duty 4 are my 2 favourites at the moment.
Definitely worth getting. -
I say get it, because as soon I got tired of CS:S I just play COD4. Then when I get tired of COD4 I go back to CS:S. That way you won't get bored of both games so quickly. The only thing is that I get kind of messed up with after playing COD4 then switch to CS, like I hit the melee button when there isnt one or I wait for a kill cam to show up...lol

BenLeonheart walk in see this wat do?
Simply put, COD4 = P\/\//\//-\G3.
And yes, I come from a FPS background, being it my favorite gaming genre. -

One remark: If you're a seasoned player in the FPS world don't take the single-player campaign in the default difficulty. Go straight for the Hardened mode. The game loses the too-short, too-easy sp campaign often cited disadvantage then.
Playing COD4 single player is like being inside a novel where Rainbow Six, Black Hawk Down and Sum of All Fears were mixed. Awesome.
COD4.. Is it worth it?
