Hey I have an Asus F3sv with 8600GS. I've been having this problem for quite awhile now, when I run games, even games that require very little graphical processing will heat up my CPU/GPU temperature when ran in windowed mode(usually the cpu's usage goes to 100% and stays there), the only way to avoid BSOD while running games that way is to limit the CPU max speed to 40% to 60% or it gives me heat warning shortly after the game has been turned on. All this can be avoided if I were to run the exact same games in fullscreen and it all seem to run smoother, too. So I want to know if it's an issue with VISTA taking too much processing power for the explorer shell and if it's something I can tweak in the OS or BIOS to solve problem.

I'd like to chat on msn or do other things while I'm playing games. I prefer windowed gaming over fs as a personal preference.

Don't complain then, because in windowed mode, your gpu has to draw both your desktop and the game you are playing. And windowed mode also don't change the load on the cpu so it's normal that it stays a 100%.
