Hey, recently while playing a few games, I kept noticing FPS drops, I opened MSI Afterbruner and checked out my clock speeds, and found my CPU and memory speeds were dropping during the FPS drops. I have NO idea why this is happening and I desperately need help!

    Specs:
    Windows Home Premium 64-bit
    Nvidia Geforce 650M
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    Intel i7 processor 2,40 GHz

    Any help is GREATLY appreciated

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this has only began happening in the past week.

What do your cpu/gpu temps look like right before the drops? Since it was OK previously, it could be some built up dust in the vents making the cooling system less efficient than before.

That was my first thought, but the temps were running normally, and I cleaned out the fans and still no luck :/

I've tried everything from updating drivers, to cleaning to uninstalling programs, and at this point im beggining to feel like it would be easier just to reset my laptop to factory settings as I can no longer play ANY games on it and it's become completely ridiculous

It could be good old throttling due to something like BD PROCHOT though, that kind of behavior was observed on certain Asus G series.

Check out a utility named throttlestop. Open it up and untick bd prochot and see if that makes things any better. I'd keep a close eye on temps while running it the first time (yours doesn't seem to be a temp issue, but just to be safe).
