I just downloaded, and ran Notebook Hardware Control, and playing a low-tax game of Diablo 2, it seems my CPU temp has gone up to 70C, is this bad? I've played BF2 for 2 hours at a time, with no artifacting or anything like that.

Just makin' sure I don't fry this beautiful piece of machinary.

Your CPU can go up to 100C. Thats the shut down limit.

70* is a bit warm, but Acers have been known to run hot. The 4670 is no exception. Unless you are running into problems, I wouldn't worry about it. It takes a lot to damage the CPU.

    A cooling pad would help.

Mine gets up to 70c + when gaming. I find the cheap option is to have something raising your laptop from the back to allow air to circulate more under the machine. I'm curently using two plastic tops from cans of deodarant.....Its cheapskate central, but it works !

The Spire Pacific Breeze is a good cooling pad. Chaz and I both have that model and it works wonders for us.

I get 74 degrees with a Core Duo 1.66 (Acer 5562) - however, if you undervolt you can bring this down to 68 degrees. Use the NHC undervolting control and you will be surprised as to how much cooler you can get the machine for free! You can also use the powerplay settings to bring the overall temperature down while you are not gaming, although don't forget to turn this off when gaming, otherwise you will find the FPS suddenly dropping!

You forgot me Twilight, I own one too! :)

A cooling pad is a good solution. But the Acer of my classmate is also getting very hot, 75 degrees after gaming.

    Charlie :)

Oh yea, forgot you had one too, mate!

Odd, a friend of mine with an Acer complains about heat too. Maybe Acer's cooling isnt as good as it could be?

I used to own an Acer TravelMate 4400 - Turion 64, Radeon X700 64MB. It was uncomfortably hot, which is what caused me to sell it and get my Sager. Acer needs to work on their cooling for sure.

I think its something from the 3000 series that my friend has. I can never remember Acer's model numbers.

Its a shame. Acer has some pretty good specs.

I had a cheap Aspire 3002LC last year, and despite the low-end (Sempron 2800+ and Mirage 2 GPU) components, it got uncomfortably hot. Woke up one morning with the itchiest crotch I ever had, and when I showered it looked like I had contracted Syphilis LOL. I had been using the Aspire on my lap the night before and got heat rash.

Anyone tried undervolting their Acers? My sager can easily get to 65C without undervolting. With it, I never break 50C.
