I play Warhammer Online and by using nVidia system monitor saw that my cpu is hitting 100% on both cores durring congested battles and is typically running at +75% through out the game. Would going from a p8400 to a t9400 or p9500 be enough of an upgrade to keep my CPU from bottlenecking my FPS, or should i go bigger?

Any WAR players out there tell me what ur running and how it is doing?

    Thanks

    2.26GHz to 2.4GHz or 2.53GHz...maybe the 2.53GHz one.

HOWEVER, it might also top out there as well. I'd do some research and try to figure out why it is taking so much power before trying to solve it. It might be using 100% to try and optimize network communication for all you know.

I would wait for quad cores to come down in price and size, and become more power efficient. A jump of a few hundred mhz won't make too much of a difference. It would help a little, but is that really worth $3-400?

If the 7811 can support the X7800 go for that one. It can go to 3.0 GHZ, and give you a massive boost in speed.

Going to be blunt... I don't really think the small bit you get from going from 2.26 to 2.53 is going to matter much.

Mine allows OC from 2.26 to 2.49GHz through ASUS system tools.
My GPU is ever so slightly less than yours.

I don't see much of a difference in real gameplay in most games.

Now, I don't have warhammer, but honestly there isn't much of a real difference between those processors to be worth the price.

Note that your CPU or GPU are probably not the real bottleneck here.
Both of those are powerful enough to run WAR's lower-end graphics engine.

Just an FYI, Quad-Core SLI 8800 GTS Desktops slow down during large sieges or mass PvP too...

    Thanks for the tips. =)

If anyone out there plays would you mind telling me you specs and how it runs?

Didn't know that was possible... I'm using Comcast high speed internet advertised as 6mbps (4 times faster than 1.5mbps DSL :) )

you're absolutely fine, unless your computer slows down to like 3 fps, and your mouse lags, and when you push esc, the menus lag. i wouldn't dish out for a new processor, unless you're trying to go up a significant amount on the CPU speed.

there is a catch to comcast internet.

it is fast. however, they provide internet to many, many customers.

your internet will be fastest at non-peak operating hours, meaning 2:00 AM - 6:00 AM; that's where you will receive your fast high speed internet.

they can transfer fast speeds, but once they are loaded by a lot of people using bandwidth, it slows down the speeds for every one.

i learned this from my friend who is a comcast sales rep. this is what the "speed boost" thing is. everyone who has comcast cable internet has the "speed boost" thing, and all it means is if your neighbors aren't using that much bandwidth on the internet, you can use it.

I also heard that there's a special line that's faster than the normal connection, and you get connected for a few seconds then go back to the line. I think NBR member Modly posted this. Don't remember exactly.

So everyone seems to think a CPU upgrade to play WAR would be pointless?

It can, but would the loss in FSB make much of a difference? i hate going backward...

i doubt it. Buy if someone can ask Narsnail who has the cpu, if he had gotten high benchmard scores than a t9300.

But the extra .8 ghz is much worth it.

If you don't want to go backward you can look for a x9000 but that thing is expensive...

    You could get a 2.93Ghz T9800.

I haven't snatched one up yet, but I will be getting it from eBay, unless a side deal comes through.

The 9800s priced at $418 are the final samples.
