For those of you who don't know, Tactical Intervention is a upcoming FPS with game play like Counterstrike. It is being created by the guy who pretty much created Counterstrike. He was hired by Valve shortly after creating Counterstrike but didn't like the direction they were heading so he quite and started developing Tactical Intervention. It's been in development for nearly 10 years and it is almost ready. I have heard the Gameplay will be much like Counterstrike 1.6. The developer felt that Counterstrike abandoned it's competitive roots and wants to create another competitive FPS environment. It should be good. Check out the interview.

Is no old school CS fans planning on giving Tactical Intervention a try?
-
I certainly would, but it really depends on graphics little bit, even though I demand good gameplay at first, mediocre graphics are kind of killing my mood nowadays (especially after BF3, witcher 2, crysis 2 and skyrim)
-
Cant say im a old school CS player.
First time i tried CS was on 1.5. -
That's Old School enough. I consider Old School anything prior to Source. Back when shooting people actually took skill rather than spray.
-
I started in CS 1.3, back when bunny hopping was part of the game.
Also, you can outright spray and not pray from 1.0-1.5 since there was a static spray pattern on each weapon.
Late 1.6 introduced some kind of random bullet spray which pretty much demand controlled burst firing for good 6 shots. -
im sorry but valve has taken over.
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I've been playing CS since 1.3, crazy stuff since that has happened. The trailer looks promising, kinda like MW styled breach scenes + hardcore CS action. Free2play? Anyone know what engine it runs off of?
-
I remember how much fun it was to play the old school CS back when I was in High School. We installed the game in the school's computer class and would just play it when there was a break or when the teacher wasn't looking...memories
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
Ditto. Ah, the good ol' times. -
oh man I loved bunnying someone with AWP
fun times
-
Same except, we had a dedicated lab room for "games", that we use during break, after school activity or finished early with in class assignments.
We used steam cs 1.6 beta cause at the time, didn't require a key to play.
The teacher didn't mind until his wife passed away. -
and switching awp to deagle so fast.
the colt was pure ownage on 1.3. i miss em days. -
I started playing CS when I was in 12th grade and stayed pretty hard core for about two years. The year after I graduated, I moved in with my Girlfriend. A year later, she broke up with me. She told me I cared more about the game than I did her (probably the truth). Looking back on it, the was the greatest time of my life. When I moved out, I got my own apartment and spent many many night throwing CS lan parties. Sometimes we would play from 9pm to 9am. Crash and then do it all over again.
A couple years later, I had my next girlfriend move in with me. Then, I got caught up in World of Warcraft. You can probably guess what happened next.
-
You hipsters can say what you want, but I like CS:S. And yes, I played 1.6 and TFC for a long time before Source came out.
-
Its not that I don't like Source. I just had much more fun pre-Source. Its no secret that pre-Source required more skill.
-
I've played since 1.0 pre-alpha (i think!) when the p90 used to shoot in a straight line and the m4 had a scope rather than a silencer
.
My Interest in CS died over the last 3 years or so - never really got into source, but will grab global offensive as soon as its available.
I'm not sure regarding tactical intervention - it might be great, but he seems to have implemented a couple of pretty gimicky features from the trailer.
Sigh, my interest in games have pretty much died down to Nba 2k, Fifa, and mlb the show, so anything that rejuvenates me will be good.
CS:GO seems to have some nice features that have been requested for some time - e.g. the hands that were specific to the player model, as well as a much needed overhaul to the weapons system that does not involve Dynamic pricing (nice idea, but just didn't work). -
pressing q infinitely many times as the round starts
good old days
man what I miss in CS is that when you die you needed to wait until the end of round, because of that everybody were really careful jumping around or just rushing the enemy. even though I like BF, it is like suicidal kids running allover the place, especially supports nowadays jumping in front of 10 people just to take 2-3 of them out before dying, crazy unrealistic... ah good old CS gameplay
-
I'm not so sure that's true. Yes, definitely, I enjoyed the standard 1.6 (1.5!) game much more than source, but to say that 1.6 necessitated more skill is not true - definitely the skill ceiling in 1.6 was higher, but unless you truly were among the best in your country (are you?
) I don't think pubbing was significantly easier/harder one way or the other.
When pubbing, I definitely did much better in source (generally got to/near top of servers in kdr, but much more middle of pack in 1.6) but I'm not sure it was simply because of better competition in 1.6 and more scrubs in source.
Recoil patterns definitely made a difference, and slightly smaller heads, but it wasn't as huge a difference as I initially felt (back in 04, when source was buggy as hell
)
I think I spent a lot more time playing 3rd party mods in source than 1.6 though. Gun game in source was pretty fun. -
To tell you the truth' I don't know if I was one of the best in the country. I was however in a very popular Clan named S.W.A.T. and we were very competitive for a good 3 years. So much so that most clans wouldn't even play us. Most of us couldn't even play on random public servers due to being accused of hacking and instantly banned.
The reason why I say there was more skill involved is because the hit boxes were smaller, weapon recoil was greater and player skill level (even on pubs) seemed higher.
Yes I did have a lot of fun playing Gun Game on Source. Probably my favorite mod. I would go back and forth between turbo, regular and reverse. -
Ah fair enough. I was trying to say that 1.6 was significantly more challenging in the clan/scrimmin setting, a combination of smaller hitboxes, controllable recoil and wall banging (IMO the most significant).
-
Ahh, Wall Banging. Many night around 3am when everyone was offline, myself and a buddy of mine would go into a map and mark points on the wall. Put it this way. On Assault, I knew exactly where I had to shoot and what angle I had to shoot in order to achieve a head shot on the person always camping the vent.
$hit like that would get me banned 10 times out of 10.
