CS: Source

Anyone still plays it or most people got sucked in by new hit titles? (Bioshock, world in conflict, BF2142, QW:ET demo, etc)

Edit: I am sorry I meant to limit it to Notebookreview community. Anyone out there who is still enjoying it on their laptop?

 

Thousands of people still play not only CS:S, but CS1.6

 

Yeah CS:S is good but I'm into Tf2 atm

 

I still play 1.6, which is infinitely better than source.

 

The only peeps who play 1.6 are the ones whos comps can't handle source
I play 1.6 from time to time because the servers aren`t full of laggy noobs playing on sucky comps

i still play CS:S and plan to play it until it dies

 

I play CS:S at least once a day (10-60 minutes). It's still a great game, but that doesn't mean I don't like the newer titles as well.

Bioshock has been pretty kick-ass so far.

 

The new Gun Game style servers EXTREMELY ADDICTING!

Don't say I didn't warn you.

 

This may sound really nit-picky, but gunfire in the original game feels more precise. The remake still has super-human marksmanship, but the area you hit seems to be more general.

 

I play CS:S, I find it to be a good game if not played to excess. I like it because a) I can run it beautifully on my overclocked X700, b) teamwork is essential, c) voice communication is great, and d) it is very easy to find a server.

 

Source is so much fun and is rather addicting. The gameplay does get repetive after a while but mods which differ from traditional gameplay make it even more fun and fresh again.

The best mods are

Gun Game - find a server running this in deathmatch mode ...simply amazing
Zombie mod - nothing like killing zombies

 

yea zombie mod is more addicting than gun game

 

I wish my internet connection wouldn't die after 5 mins of playing CS:S. I can play it on my desktop with a 6100, but the internet connection dies 5 mins into a game

 

I am always play Zombie Mod Servers on CS:S exclusively if not I am usually playing Insurgency Mod for HL2, excellent mod.

 

man when the game starts and no on is the zombie and then suddenly your running around and you hear a zombie screech from behind you really gets your adrenaline running lol

something is choking your internet connection, meaning you have anything downloading uploading, heavy internet activity or something like that going on.

also have you applied the tweak for the tcpip patch which lets you change your half open connections from 10 to 50 or even 500 (chaning it to 500 caused me to have those problems, sticking to the default 10 and 50 was fine).

your rates in css could also be messed up, i dont know how to fix them, so you could try reinstaling source after completely uninstalling it and all its preferences

Thanks for all your replies! It's been so long since I've played that game (since release actually), so I haven't seen any CS:S maps other than original that came with the game or any new mods. Since it's only 20 bucks now I might actually get it.

played cs since i was grade 7... last couple years barely played. i still play ocassionally when i am extremely bored and feel like not doing any school work. however, now i get these lag spikes where my ping goes up to like 500 for like 2 seconds then there are is a period time where its like 50... dunno whats goin on

 

I used to play in grade 6...stopped for 6 yrs...then resumed after completing my Junior college...completely addicted to it these days....playing condition zero...problem is nowadays everyone uses hacks...spoilts the gaming spirit..those bloody chinese cheaters have ruined the game

 

P.S : i am not being racist...but they popularised the hacks for cheating
