Pentium M 730 1.6 GHZ
512 Dual Channel DDR2
5400 RPM HDD
128 MB x300 mobility
Inspiron 6000d
Settings: AA x 4 AF x 4, settings standard, widescreen 824xsomething
This, even though the resolution is low, looks incredibly good. You may not be the best at sniping, but the AF and AA do very well to compensate.
I never dropped below 30 FPS while playing online with 20+players.
I didn't have the FPS thing running, but it was incredibly smooth, I'd say around 60 FPS or more.
I'm going to do some more tests to see how far i can push it, but basically I just posted this saying that anyone who tells you that the x300 is insufficient for a budget gaming laptop is lying to you.
I can play HL2 fine, I can play anything else fine, the x300 128MB is alot of bang for the buck.
Again, Ill get back with official FPS postings.

How about the GeForce Go6200 with 64MB of ram?
Can i like now equip my nb with 2x512Mb of ram then i share 128 (max rite?) of it to the GPU?
SO to achiece on-par performance?
Can i? Is this therotically possible? -
Just tried 1280x800 resolution with 4xaa and 4xaf with mostly high settings and texture at medium...got around 40-50-60 FPS! Wow!

-I've heard that the go6200 is almost directly equivalent to the x300. I'm not really sure how much a difference 64-128MB makes in low-end video card performance.
But theoretically, with the performance that I have been getting with the x300, I would think that you should get the same performance, especially if you share some of that 1g total system memory.
I am only running on 512system memory, and I get literally no hangs from texture loading, so your 1g should help out alot. I think you should get roughly equivalent performance that I get.[]

I believe you will achieve slightly higher frame rates with the 6200. I read about a comparsion between the IBM T43 (64MB X300) and the Sony FS18 (GeForce 6200 TC) and even though the 6200 has 96MB shared, 32 dedicated memory, it still outperformed the X300 in all the games tested.

Wow, that's pretty impressive. Have you run any benchmarks?
Dell I6000 -
Yeah, I've ran 3dmark 2001se and got like a 9700 or something low like that.
I don't think those 3dmark benchmarks are that reliable in determining the what games your card can handle.
-
Yeah, I think they're pretty irrelevant. Hardcore gamers would laugh at that score, but I got 4.5k in 3DMark01SE (I6000 with integrated graphics) and I can play HL2 fine. CS: Source is too choppy to be playable though.
Dell I6000 -
I am trying to decide between the I6000 and the I9300. I really like the NVIDIA Go 6800 but I want the 15.4 Wide. I went to Best Buy to check out 17 inchers and they are just too big for me to use as a portable computer. So to the point, how is the X300 I am a Huge Counter Strike guy, will I be able to hang in CS Source? Do you know of any HL2/CS Source Benchmarks out there for the X300 and the 6800 Go. When I configured the I6000 and the I9300 the same way (-17 in -256 6800 -faster RAM) the difference in price was less than $300 so that isn't the issue. It's not like I am getting such a better price by getting the I6000. I just don't think I will like that tank 9300, I dunno never had a laptop.
Thanks[8D] -
Maybe you should look at the Asus Z71V. It has a 128mb Nvidia Geforce 6600 Go, which is somewhere in between the X300 and 6800. You could get it for less than the Dell I9300 and it has a 15.4 inch screen.

CS: Source and the ATI x300 128MB
