    Hey Guys

I just got CS:S and installed it. Now when i go to play it, i get this message from steam:

Steam.exe (main exception): Win32 StructuredException at 0EB12671 : Attempt to read from virtual address 88 without appropriate access rights.

Tryed Google, and not much came up.

    Thanks!

Hey, you finally downloaded it. :)

Are you sure that you are on an account with administrative rights?

Also, maybe a firewall is blocking something - see if turning them off does anything.

Yes Chaz, bought it today :)

I only have one account on my Dell, so yes ;)

Disabled all my firewalls, and nothing.

    Anything you can think off?

It's a great game, you'll be glad you bought it. We should play sometime. ;)

I would try creating another administrative account, see if you can run it from there.

Nope, i just installed the game. Said it finished, so everything closed out like normally. I go click on the CS:S icon, and then the error message comes up. This message is stressing me out...

If you haven't restarted the computer lately, do that. Then, if you have no success there, try creating that other account. ;)

And finally - reinstallation is something you should do if neither of those work.

i hope you haven't bought an used copy. cause, When you install Counter-Strike Source you have to register online (no choice in the mater doesn't work other wise) if it has been used then someone else has registered it so when you come to do it you will be unsuccessful, it is possible to sign in but you would have to know the exact account details of the previous owner so you could sign in as them. Finally once installed CS Source WORKS WITHOUT the disk so the person selling may still be playing and of course that mean that while they are playing online YOU CAN'T.

how about, uninstalling the game, deleting the game folder, clearing the system registry and then a clean insall of the game?

onick - I know im not getting screwed here, because i bought this game brand new from Bestbuy this morning. I'll try what you said. if it doesn't work, it looks like a reformat which im trying to avoid at all costs.

In the control panel, it says Steam is 4,000MB in size. Is that even right?

"omg you hacker!" something you will get alot in the counter-strike universe.. of course once you get good or really start to cheat. If you get that error again just delete ClientRegistry.blob.

    Also were you using linux(wine)...

    Yes that would be great.
Maybe if we can recruit a few more people, we can play in an empty server

I have to get a mouse first, a touch pad just doesn't work as well, but other than that, it works pretty good and i like it a lot.

But seriously, anyone who wants to play just IM me sometime ;)
