Every game runs great- WoW, Battlefield 1942, 2, 2142, UT 2004, etc. My problem, is CS:S recommended settings are all maxed out. It plays at around 25fps, which I don't like. When I bump it all the way down to everything low, it runs the exact same. All drivers are up to date, so I'm figuring it's just some kind of Vista vs. CS kind of problem. Anyone else issuing this problem?

nope... mine runs fine..... what you have to do is make it run in direct x 7 or 8 mode
-
Really? I mean, HL:2 runs around 50fps with those settings.
-
Type: fps_max 100 in the console
-
I'll try that, thanks.

Noobie question... how do I bring up the command line? I thought it was ~... but guess not.
-
You need to go into the Advanced Options (I believe where you set the key bindings)and check the box that allows you to bring the Console with ~ key. You will then be able to bring up the console.

Thanks guys. Hope this fixes the problem. If not, it's some kind of software issue. Been playing WoW for 3 hours with everything maxed out, at around 50fps.

so was it fixed
i have the same card as you and i can run css with max settings (except Antialiasing.. cuts fps in half for no noticeable difference), 1440x900, at about ~80 FPS average on most maps, ~70FPS on dust, and dust2.

Well, I haven't tried it again yet. Hope to tonight.

Alright, update. Bumped up to 2G and new driver... runs all maxed out at 1024x768, no AA at around 60fps. Happy!

I run 1680x1050, All settings max, 0xAA, 8xAF, no HDR (I hate it in CS:S). I score about 125fps in the CS:S test.
