hi guys, just wondering if playing CS:S is possible on an apple macbook with 1gb ram and the integrated graphics. i am wondering this because i am going to build a pc for my primary gaming, but i also like to have a laptop that can play CS:S cause thats the only game i'd be playing on the laptop. and i also wanted to downsize from my 15.4" to a 13.3", and all the other 13.3" laptops are way too expensive.

I thought you hated Macs, foosa! :p

Anyways, this is an often asked question, that I actually do not have a definite answer to. Although I believe it can be played on the GMA950, just not very well.

To elaborate what I said before, it will play fine on all lowest DX7 settings and low resolution, so as long as you just physically need to be able to play it, you should be fine.

If you're anyway competitive, then it's not really going to work out. The game will first of all, look like absolute crap, which might be fine for single player games but online it makes it incredibly hard to sometimes make out things that everyone else sees for granted, players, headshots, distant targets, etc. Also, it would be prone to slowdown at times. The 950 is really not advisable for Source games....at all.

Basically summing up the posts before me:

    You can play it,

    but once you do,

    you won't want to anymore.

CS 1.6 will run, but CS Source will be un-playable. Don't even try it. You want a Pro, not the regular Macbook.
