    With my PC and counterstrike 1.6, when I have MSN messenger on I can still see who's just signed in or if I have just recieved an email, but when playing Source on my laptop I can't see when any of that happens. Sometimes the alerts don't come up but I hear the message beep so I know that somethings just happened and check when I can.
    Anyone know how I can set it up so I know when people come online or are chatting to me while I'm playing Source?

    There use to be a day when I would do this and Alt-Tab to chat with someone but now I feel like with today's games, its hard to do this. Now I just shut chat down.

    I used to like being able to chat while I was waiting for a new round to start. Another thing with source is that it doesn't really minimize and start up again ok.

    if you want to play and chat with others, i suggest you use xfire (well i guess if your friends use it too) because it is the easiest in-game chat thingy to use
