I am having a hard time getting good at MW2 as most people are really good at it by this point. What are some basic tips. I notice I get stabbed quite a bit and would like to see what some good tactics to start doing would be. Any tips appreciated as it is a really good game.

Please don't consider me a troll for saying this...my tip: stick to CS:S.

    Just a superior FPS.

As far as MW2 tips go, get used to using sights, obviously sights don't exist in CS (unless sniping).

Play around with the class editor... take a look at what other players use. Some perks make a ridiculous huge different imo.

You are not a troll for saying it. Although it may be an opinion, it's a truth and fact!

I'll jump in and troll too.

You shoulda saved yourself $40 and gotten BFBC2.

Throw strategy out the window, CoD multiplayer is all about camping. Find a nice corner with a good view of a high traffic area and just shoot things as they walk by.

Meh people in CS:S do that too. But great players don't have a good KDR they have the good kills per time ratio as they are aggressive. What perks in MW2 are good? CSS is definitely a harder game to learn but I wouldnt mind getting better at MW2 for now.

    To be completely honest?

    Be cheap.

Everyone else who plays that game is cheap, and you will be at a disadvantage in most situations if you are not cheap as well.

For starters, use the UMP45. It does more minimum damage than literally any other automatic weapon in the game, including SMG's, assault rifles, LMG's and machine pistols. It is the only automatic weapon in the game capable of a three-bodyshot kill while silenced and without Stopping Power.

Also, akimbo G18's. They're bugged pretty badly; their hip-fire cone is actually narrower than that of a single G18. Combine that with the extremely high rate of fire and you've pretty much got an unstoppable wall of bullets that will kill anyone vaguely in front of you.

If assault rifles are more your style, ACR. It has zero recoil, so you can pretty much just point and click. No need to compensate. It doesn't have the greatest damage or ROF, but that hardly matters when you can't miss.

Commando + handgun with Tactical Knife "attachment". The tac-knife basically lets you melee twice as fast as you normally can. The Commando perk more than doubles the range of the melee "lock on", where you lunge towards your enemy and stab them. With Commando, you can easily do this from the other side of a small room.

I'm not even kidding you; 90% of the time you die, it will be from one of these things.

As for everything else, it's pretty much down to personal preference. If you like stealth, then Ninja and Cold-Blooded are the perks for you. Stopping Power is an all-around useful choice in most scenarios as well.

If you like to snipe, go with the Intervention or the Barrett M82. They have identical stats in terms of damage and multipliers, which are superior to those of the WA2000 and the M21 EBR. The only difference is the Intervention has slightly more idle sway and less recoil, and is bolt-action, while the Barrett is semi-automatic with more recoil and less idle sway. With Stopping Power, either of these will be a guaranteed one-shot to anything but the limbs.

Wow rep to you. You answered my question about how I seem to die by knife all the time. I think I am going to stick with CS:S and L4D2. Lol; I guess it is not as tactical as I thought. Do like the single player experience of MW2 if only it was longer.

    That's the point. BFBC2 is $20, MW2 is $60. If he had gotten BC2 instead of MW2, he would have paid $20 instead of $60. 60 - 20 = 40.
