After im done playing, I hit quit and cs:source proceeds to shut down, but then its like it just stops midway and im left with the black screen. I then press the windows key which doesnt work. I do ctrl+alt+del, and i go to the task manager. I end hl2.exe, steam.exe and the gameoverlayui.exe as well, but the black screen remains. I can see my taskbar but I can't get to my desktop so I end up just hitting ctrl+alt+del again and logging off and re-logging in.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening, and how I can fix this? Would a reinstall work?
Thanks.

You can try uninstalling, deleting all traces, and reinstalling. But I find new features in Steam to be very buggy for 2 months or 3 updates addressing the exact bug (which ever comes last). I don't get the black screen, but hl2.exe and gameoverlayui.exe linger for me as well.

Its on my brand new dell xps m1530 which i got 4 days ago..
4gb ram
250gb 5400rpm hard drive
1440x900 led lcd
intel core 2 duo 2.4 ghz 3mb cache
This never happened on my desktop..I dunno what it is? I play CS:Source in widescreen 16:9 1280x800 (or whatever it is), and my native resolution is 1440x900. So when i get back to desktop it has to readjust.
However, I will try reinstalling. I dont have my CD 5 for installation, so this time I just used CD 1 to install steam, and downloaded CS:Source from steam. I will get cd 5 from my friend and install it, and see if that helps...
Sucks, it happened last night too and i end up going to the ctrl alt del screen and logging off, relogging in.
CS:Source doesn't shut down
