    From the site: http://www.fpsbanana.com/games/2

There are a lot of mods that I'd like to use.

I want my character model to be a girl for example.

I also want my gun models to look better.

I want a blood mod -- because the standard isn't bloody enough :D

My question: Can I do these types of mods and play on VAV-Secured servers? I want to make sure I don't get banned -- from what I can tell, none of these mods explain if they're VAC-OK.

Has anyone here used these mods before?

ive known people that dl and install skins so that their weapon looks like another weapon, but still performs exactly like its original. EXAMPLE: say you get a skin for the m4. the m4 will still perform like an m4 would without the skin, but it will just look different for you only, as well as only others that have that same skin. a skin only changes the look of the weapon, but doesnt affect its performance

I think it only affects the client side and nothing else so you should be good.

I tried a mod that made the bullets look like paintballs and I could play on VAC servers fine, of course the effects were only visible to me.

Yea it's only for you. Nobody else will see them, as those are custom files running on your own machine.

like whats the point of changing how your character looks if nobody else can see it?

you can't even see yourself except for the gun model

yea its just to change your game for your self for fun. you could see it on other servers because they had it set up as a file you download and it only ran on that server. its not really a mod. it just replaces the skins for the original file.

I'm pretty sure you can get custom models and have them visible to everyone else-on one server I visit there will be massive 'error' signs in place of custom models if they didn't download, which is all the time

You absolutely cannot use custom models in competition. People used to make models where everyone was neon colored so you could see better or guns which are longer than average so you could see someone hiding behind a corner. I believe CAL specifically bans changed models and they will know if someone looks at your replay.

Other than that you can use whatever you want in any server (I believe) without being afraid of a banning.

I used to run a UN-style character model because they had nice teal hats which were exceedingly easy to aim at in 1.6 but I had to take it off once we started competing because I almost got us in trouble with it.

I'm pretty sure most servers determine any Skins as a form of cheating so be careful. And besides, they dont alter the gun in anyway so all those extra details on guns such as an M4 Lazer Sight add on are just misleading in terms of accuracy.
