Ok ive made a previous thread about this a while ago but the porblem was never solved :( CSS is my favourite game and id really like it to work properly. Basically my CSS is slo and laggy. I try to connect to servers but it freezes and i hve to wait like 10 minutes for it to connect. Sometimes when im on servers CSS randomly shuts down and a box appears saying HL2.exe has stopped working. If that doesnt work i get disconnected from ther server. Also my history doesnt display my servers anymore. Can anyone please help? this is really annoying me. Could someone recommend patches or something?

    My computer is an M1530.

    Thanks

Patches or game fixes are only available via Steam (when they release them).

Have you tried reinstalling the game (deleting the Steam folder as well)? Reformatted lately?

    what notebook & vid card?

i have had that error b4. If it is the video card, it will just stop responding in game and hang and the sound repeats. Also to look for the favorite servers, try going steam>view servers> favorites

Trouble shoot--- 1. Have the AC cord plugged in and set computer to Performance.
    2. Update vid card drivers from laptopvideo2go.com I am using 167.58 pretty stable for me.
3.Update sound card drivers from (realtek--if that is the chip maker)
    4. Have the chipset of your notebook updated(if u have intel notebook, update your chipset inf software from intel.com Also update your intel wireless card drivers(if u have 4965AGN or the older wireless network cards)

If none of these work, only other option is to reformat (and don't install softwares that mess up your internet network)

Uhh, I am unsure how this is going to help with the overall server connection issue, but it should help with the gameplay.

    Check these variables in consoles:
    1.Rate (between 10k - 20K depend on your connection/FPS)
2.Cl_Rate (9999.00 Always, in all steam game I play I was never allowed to change it)
3.Cl_updaterate (match with FPS you are getting on average)
    4.Cl_cmdrate (same as above)
5.Use "Net_graph 1" (takes 1-3 as parameter, display in different format", to check net usage.

Also, in the steam options menu, check to see if you have the right "Connection" selected. IE, Dial up vs. T1

Interesting issue, do you get an exact error message?
should point to the hardware causing the problem

dont forget if you have Realtek High Definition audio you will find lots of problems on older drivers, and the last few dell installs I have seen use a driver that isnt even xp sp2 compaitble without some silly fix

try to download the latest version directly from realtek it should update over the top of the existing driver,

You shouldnt be getting any lag or errors with those specs. Check your Video settings in CSS and turn off Anti-Aliasing and lower the gfx settings, just google around with the settings.

If that doesnt work then I strongly believe its your gpu drivers. Certain drivers are known to cause errors. Try downloading different laptopvideo2go drivers as they might have patched up the fix to these crashes
