    Hey everyone.

I'm thinking about purchasing a 22 inch widescreen monitor. I would like to make this one my primary one and be able to close my laptop and put it in my desk as I play counter strike. There are just a few things which I am concerned about.

    1. Would the computer be able to make the external monitor the primary one? I think I have tried to do this before with a CRT monitor but I was not able to make it my primary.

    2. Would CSS have lag? I mean, I am using a wireless mouse, keyboard, and if It needed to transmit all that information to an external screen and back and there was lag I would be devastated.

    Thanks.

There won't be any lag. All you're doing is connecting a monitor to your laptop. It would be like a monitor on a desktop, there wouldn't be any lag. I have set my external monitor to to be detected in OS X before, and was able to set it as the main display, and if you can do it in OS X there should be a similar option in Windows.

update! I have successfully made the CRT monitor I have lying around my primary one. No lag whatsoever and all I did was press Fn+F8. Only thing is that my computer scrolls by itself. As in firefox scrolls down to the bottom and won't scroll up, in CSS the weapon is always switching, and won't stop. It's not my mouse either, I tried unplugging it and restarting my computer. It is very odd.

Your questions have been answered, but I need to clarify one more thing for you. The information from the mouse and keyboard and whatever other input devices you have are being transmitted to the computer itself and not the monitor. The monitor just displays the picture that is generated by the computer.

    I think I understand. Thanks.

I just have to figure out why my computer thinks I'm scrolling when I hook up the external monitor.
