I notice that Windows 7 doesn't really cache games like Batman AC, even though I'm re-launching the same exe (w/o rebooting) and taskmgr shows that the exe only takes up about 1.4GB. Any re-launch of apps seem to take just as long as the first time (w/o rebooting).
Is there any way to have Windows 7 cache so that apps can re-run directly from RAM (8GB) instead of hdd? What are recommendations to take advantage of 8GB RAM or more when re-running same apps?

Nothing you can do.
Just get an SSD -
You might be better off searching for some RAMdisk/RAMdrive software that would do it for you and supports gigabytes of memory.

You'd basically be converting a portion of your RAM into a temporary SSD. I haven't tried it, but from everything I've heard disk access tasks work nearly instantly. -
This is might be an example of what intelligent caching. I thought someone would at least looked into this before.
