    They should do a world war I game. I'd like see how the trench warfare would be like in a game.

    i can just imagine how crappy trench warfare would be.

    sit and snipe. or charging over no mans land through barbed wire and into machine gun fire.

    Yeah I think WWI type warfare would be hard to simulate. You would need cooperation to rush the enemies trench, which would never happen online. Plus all the maps would probably feel the same...trenches...and more trenches. :p However, I wouldn't mind checking out a WWI game if one came out.

    I think I would buy a WWI game just for the experience. But, I also said that about the Civil War, and backed out quickly when I saw The History Channels massacre of a game.

    ehh.. I too am bored of WWII games. Personally I think they're fun and all, but I guess I'd much rather get to use more advanced toys from modern times than those of 60 or so years ago.. But perhaps that's because I'm totally ignorant to the level of technology we have reached in weaponry, and so it amazes me when I get to use amazing weapons, and further so when I realize that such weapons already exist.

    Precisely. I can only hope they do not butcher the COD name again and that people are smart enough to make the distinction between the two developers. I'd hate for people to ignorantly jump from COD4 and be expecting anything near the same quality...

    If you think Treyarch Butchered Call of Duty, you are in a pretty small minority....COD3 sold amazingly well, and is very popular on Live, received good reviews, etc.

    How do you feel they 'butchered' it? Treyarch are a quality developer. Sure, maybe not as good as Infinity Ward, but if we called every developer crap because they were just slightly short of the industry leaders there would be very, very few PC games out there.

    They have been around for years, long before they made Call of Duty 2 on the Xbox (which was a brilliant game too).

    All of which can EASILY be explained by one thing, it was a launch title for the 360. It was trash on any other console.

    COD4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> COD3

    I thought the single player campaign on COD4 was short, but absolutely not notch. The player is fully engaged right from the first mission. I'm sure COD5 will be good, but I wish they could have stuck with the modern era.

    i have to dissagre with you because South vietnam lost the war. South vietnam lost the war to North vietnam two years after the U.S. left vietnam. how could the U.S. lose the war if they stopped fighting? Then the U.S. and North Vietnam agreed to a stalemate. The peace treaty was signed in 1973 wich allowed the exchange of POW's and U.S. military withdrawl. They AGREED to stop fighting there was no surrendering. The fall of saigon happend two years after the peace treaty.
    The U.S. never lost a major battle during the war, the U.S. lost 57,000 somthing peopel and North Vietnam admit to losing 1,100,000 men.

    And this is why they will never make a game about any of the Israel/Palestinian conflicts. People are too opinionated and can't just enjoy the game. It's too bad because I would definitely buy it.

    Anyways I think CoD5 will probably be similar to CoD3. Therefore, I will not buy it.

    Apologies if this has been mentioned, but is this one being produced by Activision or the other people who failed CoD3?

    EDIT: Saw it on one of those pages. Now I'm not looking forward to it quite so much.

    Call of Duty 3 was not a launch title for the 360.....and it got equally decent reviews on PS3, Xbox, PS2, Wii....

    Call of Duty 2 on the consoles was an entirely new name, similar only to IW's COD2 in name. It was a cracking game, way better then Medal of Honor and miles better then Spark's mediocre Call of Duty Finest Hour - the best WW2 FPS on the old consoles apart from Treyarchs own COD3 and of course MOH: Frontline.

    These are how the reviews broken down on the next gen consoles:

    * GamesMaster — 82% (PS3)
    * Eurogamer - 7/10 (Xbox 360)
    * Electronic Gaming Monthly- 7.5/10 (PS3)
    * Gamespot - 8.8/10 (Xbox 360) 8.5 (PS3)
    * X-play - 3/5 (PS3)
    * Famitsu - 35/40 (Xbox 360)[4]
    * Official Xbox Magazine - 8/10 (Xbox 360/Xbox)

    Gamespot said:

    The graphics and multiplayer in COD3 are far superior to COD2 on the consoles. Can't say I noticed the sound so I can't comment on that.

    It'd be one thing to say that Treyarch games aren't as good as Infinity Wards, but all this talk of Treyarch 'failing' COD3, COD3 being utter rubbish, etc is total nonsense - they made COD3 in several months and it was pretty damn good, they've got double that time to make COD5 and I'm confident it's going to be exceptional - every bit as good if not better then COD4.

    there's just a bandwagon here with 'Treyarch are crap', most of the people here claiming COD3 is rubbish must not have played it or something.....Infinity Ward Fanboys?

    A world superpower failed to defeat a technologically vastly inferior enemy. It was a loss to communism and a humiliation for foreign policy, and the people did not support the government...very much a loss in my eyes.

    I agree with you, I have not critized, i Have not played the game, I am just sick of the WW2 story lines, etc.

    I guess compared to CoD4, CoD3 was a failure, it was just such a large change from what we were used to it seemed like the best thing ever. I cant say cause I h ave neevr played the game. We will see how it turns out though, we cant just say a game suks, even though it is based on a very dried out story line.

    If all of this is down to my use of the word 'butched' then I take it back. Treyarch (plus those before them and those who either worked or merged with them) produce good games but they achieve success on the back of the great games that Infinity Ward (IW) have created. COD, COD2 and COD4 are the best games in the series and I doubt that many would disagree with that statement. I base it on playing all of the various titles on the PC/360. The IW ones are simply better and notably in terms of online play. On the 360 I put more playing time into the COD4 beta than I did with COD3 (even if you include the single player of the latter). I had even reverted back to COD2 before that beta was released. There is nothing particularly wrong with COD3 or Treyarch but their games do not meet the high standards of IW. Will I buy COD5? I'll rent it first and decide on that basis. I would not have to do similar with COD6 and that says it all. I still love WW2 games, feel there is a lot still to do in that arena and I hope World at War meets my high standards. If all of this somehow makes me an IW fanboy (which I think is a cop out on your behalf) then I suppose I, and the majority of COD players, are guilty as charged.

    WW2 plus IW's engine and a two year development cycle has the potential to be a good thing. Hopefully it meets expectations.

    HavoK don't try to reason with bandwagoners, its impossible. I was in a fury when it was announced Treyarch were making CoD5 and people were complaining about them. There was nothing wrong with CoD3 and it took half the amount of time that CoD2 took to make. Also its was Treyarch's first endeavor into CoD (i dont think they made Big Red One). Think about what they've learned since CoD3 and with double the development time....

    Treyarch were involved in Big Red One.
    Gray Matter Interactive (now merged with Treyarch) were involved in United Offense and Big Red One.
    Pi Studios were involved in United Offensive, COD2 and Big Red One.

    All three combined for COD3 so let's not pretend that Treyarch had it hard.

    Hmm, I like the WW 2 thing coming back.

    I was a bit disappointed with the COD 4 campaign. I thought there'd be more missions like the 1st one(where you raid a ship). Only highlights were the 1st one, All Ghillied Up, Heat, and that's it.

    Yes, but you implied that COD3 was 'butchered' and selling off the back of Call of Duty as created by Infinity Ward. that's not really true - a crap game is a crap game and no amount of marketing will turn it into a top seller. Look at Hour of Victory - if that had been called Call of Duty 3, regardless it would have flopped - because it's a terrible game. Call of Duty 3 is not a terrible game and by pretty much every review account, is every bit as good as COD2 on the X360 - so where does that leave an allowance for the claims here that it was crap, Treyarch will ruin it, ruined COD, etc? The statistics speak for themselves, really. Again, COD3 might not be as good as COD4, or the SP as good as COD2 (though, absolutely everyone I've talked to says MP is miles better on COD3 then COD2 on the consoles) but it's a cracking game all the same.

    In fact, personally I think the best COD game is United Offensive, developed by Gray Matter who are now a part of Treyarch - and I know a lot of people agree on that count. In fact I've even seen people moaning that Treyarch are rubbish and nothing will ever beat United Offensive! Hence, I believe, as stated, that a lot of this negativity is pure immature bandwagon-ing. Again, which is backed up by COD3's solid sales figures and popular reception.

    COD3 sales and critic popularity speak for themselves - a good game is a good game and a bad game is a bad game. No 'bad', 'butchered', and whatever else COD3 has been called game gets solid reviews and sells extremely well. Surely you agree on that count?

    This isn't actually really so much aimed at you, even though I've quoted your post. At least you've admitted COD3 was an OK game, I really just am tired of those who like to act that COD3 was one of the worst games ever made .
