For some reason, CoD2 constantly freezes up on me whenever I try to play. Sometimes I can get to the menu, other times it won't even make it to the Activision logo. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Vista or not, but I was pretty sure most people were able to play it. Any suggestions?

Note: My drivers are up to date.

I have the same problem. What I do is before the company animations start, just click really fast to skip it all the way to the main menu.

Well after starting it in safe mode, I'm able to get to the game itself. I was just playing before taking a break.

However now another problem arises, I'm getting framerates that I feel are significantly less than what I should be getting. Even if I'm running it at 1024x1050 with 4xAA and everything maxed (save for corpses, dynamic lights and softened shadows), I'm still getting an average of 25fps in heavy combat. Heavy being 15 Russians against a base of roughly 30 Germans on screen at a time. Any ideas?

Make sure you have the latest patches for CoD2. The freezing happens on my system as well, and I do what lawlz said. The problem only occurs during pre-rendered scenes, which is very odd given that movies are much less intensive than the game itself.

I have quite a few problems with COD2, when I zoom in with a scope my fps drops...quite a lot.

    com_introPlayed "0"

Enter that command in the console so that it goes directly to the menu and skips the intros. I'm not sure if the value is 1 or 0, try both...
