I have vista 32bit on my Asus g1s, and whenever i try to update CoD2 it says it cannot find any installation of it.

i have a genuine copy, and do not have this problem on my Xp desktop.

I do know that the cod2 path has issues at times-I have used it once or twice and it didn't actually patch fully (did enough to not let me to repatch but didn't update the version you saw in game). I was forced to reinstall the game to get it to work, I might just bit the bullet and try that if I were you, but it does sound like another vista glitch.

Any idea when vista will be more stable? a service pack or something?

    Quoted for truth.

Have you tried running that app in XP SP2 compatibility mode, turn off UAC, and run the app as an administrator? Both the game and the updater?

Are you installing the patch to the same location as you installed the game?
