The most annoying game i ever played, seriously,![]()
I have not played a game in a while that is so challenging that it takes only two seconds for you to have to take another try, and the game save system is checkpoint based, so that mean alot alot of repeated action, it gets repetitive, and the grenade spam of the enemy can get on your nerve, for example, for like 2 minute during the TV Station raid level running around just to avoid nades... seems to me you have to be 150% when playing this game. Then again I took the advice that the game is only fun when you play "Hard" mode, so I gave it a try apparently I am in over my head. 10x try all died in less than 2 seconds by nade or some critical shots that is 1 hit KO. ...![]()

try airbourne on hard, its pretty much the same

I played on Normal, still died a lot, but fun as all heck. Shooting through walls really changes up the FPS strategy.

I really like this game, I beat the single player on Normal. I play games on Normal unless I am bored because that is what games are designed to be played on.
Shooting through stuff is fun indeed. -
Try a team deathmatch online if you want to talk about grenades and bullets flying everywhere.
I love it though, up to a level 29 right now with a 1.97 kill/death ratio -
Do any of you own this for PC?
I prefer playing shooters with my mouse 'n keyboard, and was wondering how this game performs framerate-wise. How would you guess it to run on my PC?
Thanks. -
Yeah, it does get repetitive on hard cause after one or two hits youre already dead. SP is decent but go play online, man is it intense
I still dont like the random respawns and run n gun maps (like cod2) but it had me at the edge of my seat. Really like the game so far, looks great and love the weapon sounds.
Chaz, just curious.. what resolution are you playing on? I have basically the same specs as your sig but with a 128MB x700. Im playing on 800x600 for average of 60fps, which doesnt look as bad as I thought on a 15" screen. Ideally I would like 60fps on 1024x768 but only get about 30-45. Did you overclock by any chance? -
@Chaz,
Yeah, I will give hard a couple more try, the game is definitely more intense under hard mode, just sometimes, the fast pace of the game really takes you by surprise.
@chonga
Nice ratio.
@Benlg, I shall give mp a try after I finish SP, I don't like online game all that much, but I will give it a try eventually.
@chubbyfatazn
It should run fairly well, you didn't give me spec so I can't comment on it all that much, but with my rig, c2d 1.6 2 gb RAM, and 8600m gt at stock
1280x800,
With some setting off, like shadows, Glow, etc and some map resolution on high instead of highest, I can push out constant 40 avg fps, sometimes drop down to 20's but that's when map's full of smoke. -

Yeah the multiplayer is intense. When I play its a definite hit or miss for me. I either kick ass or suck rarely do I do just ok. Best rec so far was 30-2. (Thank you m60) and worst was like 6-16.
I do hate some of the maps though, like literallly hate. Like countdown is a pointless map. -
now try and imagine being in a real firefight... imagine how intense it would be that knowing at any second a round can hit you at any second and the chaos thats happening and at the same time you gotta be watching your six your buddies six and gotta be watching your surroundings especially in an urban envirement gotta be paying complete attention to what your doing. but ultimateley there is no reset button in real life no do overs and checkpoints. I may not have been in a real firefight but ive done enough resaerch and watched enough firefight videos that our guys in iraq are making to have pretty good idea of what it might be like. and i cant believe that im going to join the marines and do all that but im not going to go in as enlisted but as an officer to fly the ah-1w super cobra.Furthermore i think maybe the game manufacturer and designers wanted to make a game that was highley realistic or somthing? but idk i kinda agree that they shouldnt be spamming grenades because a person could only have so many and can carry so many because all that weight adds up especially as a rifleman or combat support. but again its just a game have fun and enjoy it!, i just wanted to put that realistic factor out there.

In short, I've got an Opteron 165 @ 2.6GHz, 2GB RAM, and an X1900 underclocked (still plays CS:S at 120fps, so I'm happy). -
Why is your card so much underclocked, if at full speed you could of enjoy this game at everything max and at a decent resolution as well.
-
Clocked to its maximum (I've gotten 710/850 stable so far), I have to have the fan on maximum to keep the card within suitable operating range, and having the fan on full eventually gets to you. -
I would suggest playing it on Normal. At least the first time through. That's what I did, and now I'm going back and playing it on Hardened. It's a pretty big difference. You still die quite a bit Normal, especially from grenades, but it's not as often as Hardened and the deaths aren't as close together, so it's easier to get to checkpoints.
-
I hope COD4 is as challenging as OP claims, was playing the original today on the hardest, what a cake walk... lol
-
On veteran, the demo mission went from easy to insane. If you've ever played a halo game on Legendary, it's basically the same thing - you don't have time to kill everything and you gotta move a LOT.
I thought the difficulty level was challenging and realistic. How many bullets from an AK can a guy really take, anyway -

I might pick up COD4 this weekend, I hope it does not stop me from playing TF2 as well.

atm I'm STUCK at the part where your sniping near the ferris wheel, on the hardest difficulty it seems impossible, you can't go ANYWHERE, they rush you by about 20-30 people at a time, and when you hide you instantly get what seems like millions of nades coming your way... The rest of the game was fairly challenging though, but doable. I must have died 300 or more times already playing it, with 200 of those times being the sniper mission near the ferris wheel...
Btw, I run it at max settings, shadows off, 1920x1200 looks great, averages 45-70fps.. outdoors/indoors. -
Anyway, I somehow survived it on Hardened mode without using any cohesive defense strategy LOL... I just started on the ferris wheel, sniped a few guys... started to get fired on, ran to the bumper cars, and then to behind it. Watch for the radiation patches though. Then, it was just an exercise of avoiding grenades, and then running out to pick up the captain and then running to the helicopter while under fire from a ****load of guys haha. -
I already have tried numerous strategies,, nothing works... I've gotten as far as when the heli lands, but the very second I get up from covor im instantly dead. Oh and they flank ME from every side, and flash, and nade me...
Another thing that I think is bs, is that you cannot kill or even harm anyone until about 10 seconds AFTER they start running away from the rope when they drop out of a heli, it's dumb, you should be able to snipe off people falling from a rope, or atleast when they touch ground. but you cant.. -

With regards to how this game runs, I play on an 8800GTX, a 3.0GHz overclocked quad-core and 4GB of RAM so no explanation needed there.
However, I have been playing the game on a Toshiba X205 SLi3 notebook, which has a 2.2GHz T7500 and dual 8600M-GT 256MB in SLi. It plays at 1440x900 all maxed out no problems, even in intense areas. Looks awesome. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
I basicallly did what theros said. Lay c4 and claymores behind the bumper cars and hid over there as close to to the radioactivity as possible. Then just crouch there and shoot whoever comes towards the bumpers. most of the guys go to the ferris wheela nd just wait to be picked off. This was one of the frustrating moments I mentioend in the review, but its passable after a few tries.
Also sorry for whoever was mad that I told them to play it on hardened. I personally thought normal wasn't intense enough and I did say for experienced shooters play on hardened. -
On a side note, I found out by Caping the FPS it created a sense of smoothness, no sudden speed up/down.
Just type FPS in console and a command related to MaxFps should show up....
I cap'd my at 40 fps, and it runs at 40 and it is very smooth. -
-
this game is absolutely amazing. if i want an intense fast firefight i'll do 32 players. if i want a more strategic and tactical mp experience i do 16 players. eitehr way it is a blast.
