    So...

with the stock drivers @ COD4 recommended settings: 20 FPS
with the stock drivers @ COD4 highest settings: 20 FPS
with the stock drivers @ CS:S highest settings: 57 FPS

    with 174.93 (latest laptopvideo2go) @ COD4 recommended settings: 20 FPS
    with 174.93 (latest laptopvideo2go) @ COD4 highest settings: 20 FPS
    with 174.93 (latest laptopvideo2go) @ CS:S highest settings: 100 FPS

To wrap it up, no matter the drivers or settings, the call of duty 4 demo has not given me better performance, while other games have given me insanely optimal performance

    I don't understand... I'm supposed to have 35-40 FPS on COD4...

I hope you can help, and I thank you in advance

    P.S.
: I have tried drivers more than the 174.93, and still got the same results for the COD4 FPS, I didn't write it down because it got the same results and it's too much to type, and i forgot the driver numbers...

    Specs:
    Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5G0Hz @ 2.50GHz
    4GB RAM
    512MB NVIDIA 8600M GS

So you get the exact same framerate at recommended settings than you do at all settings maximum?

Actually at highest settings you're not supposed to get 35 - 40 with a 8600 GS. I have the GT and i get those frames by lowering shadows and specular map.

I don't know which resolution you're running at, and therefore it is difficult to judge the performance numbers, but seeing that a fairly powerful desktop system with a 8600GT gets 36 fps avg @ 1280x1024, max quality, and that an 8600M GS is less than half as powerful (16 vs 32 shaders, lower core clock), then it 20fps seems reasonable, but again, you don't state the resolution, but as it is a laptop i would guess 1280x800 or perhaps 1024x768

I can however understand that it is strange that the video drivers haven't improved performance. It is possible that the newer driver includes optimizations to specific games (like CS:S), and not COD:4, but then again it seems strange that "other games" (whichever they may be) have shown improved performance.

Yeah, I'm running my games at 1440x900 native resolution. With the Call of Duty 4 recommended settings its at 800x600...still no performance boost

Yes, I think there's definitely some kind of framerate cap being put on by the driver or something else. When I played COD4 with my 8400M GS, I never went below 20 FPS (usually around 30-40) with maximum textures and low general settings at 1280x800 resolution.

Or, it could be a performance isuse related to the demo itself. Not sure.

PS: I used the stable 169.09 drivers.

Oh really? I've seen videos with 8400M GS running Call of Duty 4 smoothly so I judge based upon that, so I guess I'm wrong then...

Look if you don`t hav Vsync on,either in the game or the Nvidia Control Panel.
And lower the detail level if that doesn`t work.
