I am getting well over 30 frame and cod4 is stuttering every few seconds. Sort of like jumping frames. It is very annoying. I searched and tried all the fixes off google(tried adjusting all settings, dual cards, etc , disabled usb devices manger, nvidia control panel, punk buster and console commands and so forth) NOTHING WORKED! Everything else is fine on this computer I play unreal 3 maxed with no issues. This Is only cod4. My specs:
3.06GHZ Core 2 Duo
4 GIG 800MHZ Ram
8800 "GS" (8800MGTS) 512MB DDR3 Graphics.
BTW: This is the windows version of course.

Yes this game seems to suffer from fps stutter, I get this too escept every 5-10 minutes for like 0,5 second. Still very annoying
-
I get that too sometimes, always at the first few seconds after I join a server. No biggie to me.

This happens to me in any 3d related game/program

same here. stuttering every 3 or so seconds for the first minute or two after loading a map in multiplayer. happens on win7-64 and xp-32; 186.81, 191.56 and 195.39 drivers; with and without changing settings in nvidia's control panel. doesn't happen on any other game.
g51j specs: i7 Q 720, GTX 260M. -
Ohh did you try the 186.81 drivers? Since your using unofficial and beta drivers, i'm not suprised that your'e having problems.. try these ones and see.. i had no issues with them..
-
i remember i did, but ill check again when at home. will update this post

Type in console, the ~ key, cg_drawlagometer 1. Check and see if you have a lot of red or yellow in the bottom or top boxes. if you are playing on a gameservers hosted server, they tend to lag quite a bit.
Also the netcode for the cod4 engine is more efficient with the following:
- com_maxfps 125
- cl_maxpackets 100
Also AA seems to make a lot of stuttering in MP, you should probably turn that off and it will improve bullet registration and lowering pings in gun fights. -
using the above settings and 186.81 drivers,
1) stuttering pattern
2) after a minute
3) stuttering (without AA)
tried on MwG's and [xs]'s Broadcast servers. it freezes between the yellow and post-drop in green. -
try playin with all setting off or low and see if you have the same issues. -
on full settings with vsync on, rarely drops below 60. and even then its still above 50.
native res, everything off or low.
no change on 1280x720.
early class tomorrow, will be up and back in 12 hours.Attached Files:

I had this problem on a desktop with a slow cpu (Pentium D) and onboard sound (integrated in the motherboard). With onboard sound the CPU is working to produce sound as well (too much for Pentium D's) and this caused a stuttering problem in Oblivion particularly (the game would stutter even though fps were 40+). After I got a dedicated sound card it stopped and I noticed COD4 was smoother as well.
I grabbed a used creative audigy soundcard on eBay and this solved the problem. But from what I read on the bethesda forum (where I got the solution) a competent core 2 duo shouldn't have this problem.
btw: wow, how old is COD4? Seems like ages ago I had that Pentium D 7950 GT desktop. Where have you been?

yeah you DEF want to play multiplayer with vsync turned OFF..lol. Make sure you play with most settings turned offf and make sure you get over 125 constant. LOL i thought this would be common knowledge to most cod players.
keep in mind, in online MP, your gun firerate is only as fast as your frames-per-second.
This is why, in cod4, most players try to get 250 frames per second constant, atleast 125 -- the bare minimum.
In other words, if you are playing with all graphic settings on max , and gettting 30-60 frames per second, then you are a very large disadvantage, becasue at this time in the game most people have realiezed this nd play at 250 fps constant. just an FYI.
Hit registration -- in MP-- is 3 fold in higher frames per second. -
if the fire rate = frames per second, i should be getting 0 during the stutters when fps = 0. shots still reg. i felt no difference between 60 and 125.
for anyone having this issue, http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11815446 -> related to punkbuster. google can fill in the rest.
