    I have a brand new ASUS G1S-A1 laptop with T7500 C2D cpu, 2 GB ram, and 8600m GT gddr3 graphics, and the CALL of DUTY 4 demo runs horrid on my laptop..... even with no AA and everything on low at 640x480 resolution, its all CHOPPY, I cant even play the game its like 5 frames/sec. Its running on Vista Home Premium w/ 163.01 (or something like that) nvidia drivers from laptopvideo2go.com...... I can play the CRYSIS demo alright all on medium with stock setup but I dont know whats going on with CoD4..... Anyone else have this problem??? i know the 8600 is a weak card but if I can run Crysis, surly I can run CoD4..somehow!!!!

    Should I load XP in a dual boot setup and play on it instead of crappy Vista??? :confused:

    It's probably an issue with your drivers, since you can run crysis. Try another driver and test it again?

    update your drivers and check what is running in background. I play it almost maxed without problems.

    drivers 163.71 work fine for me. I heard the new 169.04 ones work well too. Try laptopvideo2go.com

    I'm running it at 1440x968 or something like that at max settings... So either you've screwed it the installation or your drivers are seriously out of date (get 169.04). Also, make sure your sound drivers are up to date just in case.

    hmmm i ran the demo with everything on high at 1600x1050 and i was getting around 25-30 fps

    try new drivers....when i had the demo, i was using 163.44, i'm using 169.04 now, and it seems better but I have not tested it with cod4

    @vipper

    Do your 8600m gt has ddr3 or ddr2 memory ?

    Also, which settings do you run cod4 with? all "on" or ? :)

    Im having some problems getting a smooth gameplay with my 512mb 8600, even though i have 4gb ram (3gb working in XP), with 169.04.

    Check your antivirus software isn't affecting things.
    Close background programs (disk indexing might also be going in the background, although it's not supposed to.)
    Restart the compy if you haven't in a while
    Check your temps. Have you overclocked?
    Watch your downloads...turn off torrents, check for spyware (some nasty spywares and viruses can do the 100% cpu dealy)
    Also, running 169.04 is highly recommended - I use them currently and get high frames at 800x600 maxed.
