I just recently picked up this laptop (My sig gives model and specs.) and I must say im fairly impressed with its performance in games, especially Call of Duty 4. I can run with a mixture of settings on High/Med with shadows turned off and no AA @ atleast 30 frames a sec with the resolution being 1280x800. I was expecting this game to kill my laptop but like a champ she came out swinging. I am also using the Catalyst 7.12 drivers that I modded using the mobility Modder at driverheaven.net.

Overall im super pleased with my investment, and it only cost me 800$ :)

Yeah I know how you feel...I have a C2D E4300 running at just 1.8GHz w/ 2GB RAM and an old 8500GT card and I can run COD4 at 1284x1028 with no lag on high detail

that's a really nice budget laptop in my opinion and I'm glad you can play it. I'm really looking forward to playing the game myself, but I need a new laptop first hahah.

I might be wrong, but isn`t the Call of Duty 4 engine basically a heavily modified Quake 3 Arena engine? I dunno its just the way the GUI works i reminds me of Quake 3 and the first Call of Duty was based on the Q3 Team Arena engine.

Call of Duty 4 is extremely well optimized. And the graphics are absolutely mind-blowing. IMO it's the game of the year. :D

Yea it was a good deal, Newegg had them on sale for 799.99$ in december and they recently raised the price back up to 1000$. It originally only came with 0ne gig of ram but I bought another gig of ram for 16$, everything with shipping came out to 835$. Infinity Ward is probably one of the best in the biz when it comes to optimizing their game engines.

the 2600 is similar to the 8600gt so it is a very good card ad in most cases cheaper also

Yeah CoD4 runs really well and can be scaled well. Everything maxed on a high resolution gives me about 45 FPS in smaller areas, and 20-25 in large open areas with random fog and stuff floating in the air. However I have noticed that the multiplayer works even better. Sure there are little graphical hits the game takes to be played online, but everything turned up gives me 30-60 fps in multiplayer at all times. And $800 is a great buy!
