Hey guys
I plan on doing a clean instal and I want to back up my save. How would I accomplish this?
Thanks

Go to your cod4 directory and save the entire "players" folder. If you want to test to see if it's the right one start the game without the folder, then again with it.

Make sure to install the game in the new OS. Copy over the game files and then copying the players folder over causes it to clear ur multiplayer profile
. I learned the hard way.

Back up Call of Duty 4 files (which is 6gb)
Back up game profiles.
Re-instal Call of Duty 4
Copy over existing COD4 game files with previous files.
Then Copy over old Game Profiles?
Not sure please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks -
i've always just copied over the entire Players folder, and i've done this 3-4 times, I don't think it should reset your stats unless you reinstall with a different cd key.

okay copy entire player folder gotcha

Yep, just warning you about installing the game first
-
Then copy player profile after
If that's the case its good advice.
I use to just copy an entire folder for some programs and it works like a charm.
But there were other times when I needed to use the proper installers or else it didn't work. -
Yes, like other have said:
- Backup "players" folder
- Install COD4 after doing clean install
- Copy "players" folder into main game folder where you found it before. (Note: you won't see a players folder in the new install because it's only created after you start the game up for the first time, so don't be worried if you don't see it there!)
- Enjoy!
