Though the return to WWII is dissapointing if it in fact is true my main complaint is that the series will again be handed over to Treyarch. They just can't produce a quality title like Infinity Ward can.

COD3 was awsome man !!!
-
And it wont be coming out for the PC...
-
how disappointing. CoD 2 and CoD 4 are some of my favorite titles.
-
We cannot say that CoD3 wasn't ok, but just ok. CoD, CoD2 and CoD 4 are great gaming experiences, and some kind of masterpiece of game industry. I don't think it will go back to WW2, maybe it is just a wrong information.
-
I liked COD3 but i hate that it was'nt on pc...
-
BTW any info about expansion pack for COD4 single player? Love to see it near future -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
No big, haven't heard anything about any expansion packs on the horizon.
I'm still not at level 55 yet lol. 53, now that I'm done for the semester I can game alot more.
COD3 was ok.. And cod 2 big red one was a flop. Infinity Ward makes much bettter titles. -

This is will probably be the best WW II out there now(when it comes out).
Better graphics and physics engine!
I hope they have a feature where your own gun can jam, instead of the enemies! :O -
-
yeah, since Activision likes money they're having both Treyarch and IW work on titles at the same time, same with CoD2 & 3. IW has been working on CoD4 since the release of CoD2, and to milk the cash cow they had CoD3 released in between. It's not a terrible idea, I guess, but I'd rather just have Infinity Ward make them, since they actually know what they're doing
oh, also, Treyarch seems to want to continue with the WWII while it hasn't been confirmed yet the time frame IW is going to go with. -
i am so looking foreward to this. WW2 FTW.........

Good! There hasn't been a good WWII shooter since BF1942 and COD 1. Looking forward to it!
-
haha, i still play CoD1
best game ever. plus MOHAA, thats a good one as well.
-
What is your basis for Treyarch not being able to produce games...cod3 was sick.
Honestly if your basis is because CoD4 was awesomeOMGOMFGFFOMG , thats not good enough. -

Treyarch was ok not horrible. The main point of Treyarch success was bringing the COD genre to the console. COD5, while I was hoping that Infinity Wards would lead it, return to WWII is a sure let-down. Especially after seeing Modern Warfare. WWII better be a good setting, the Pacific Campaign would be a great place to start considering that most gamers are pretty tired of European Front now.

nah, i don't think i would ever get sick of the european front. if they make the whole thing pacific, i wouldn't buy the game. jungle fighting is designed for snipers. and to tell the truth, sniper wars suck wang. european theatre however is varied and much more interesting. plus you have the germans, and the german weapons rock.
-
im OK with the fact that they are going back to WWII, it would be nice to see a high end graphic display for WWII, since CoD2 was such an improvment.
but not being produced by Infinity Ward or available as a PC title will be some big problems. -
Yuck, i thought treyarch's COD3 was garbage personally. I returned that game after 2 games of play.
I am huge fan of Infinity Ward though. I've read that Activtision wants to put out a Call of Duty title out once a year but Infinity Ward says that to put a quality product, it needs at least 2 years and wishes to continue with modern combat, hence why Treyarch is doing 5. I'm definitely going to skip CoD5 and wait for Infinity Ward's next game hopefully sometime in 2009.
And how come no Vietnam war for Call of Duty? I thought Infinity Ward could really make a great game out of any war, just thought maybe next in the timeline would be Vietnam -
so let me get this straight. is 5 going to be just console??????

OMG! Why would they go back to wwII, i thought modern warfare was a humongous break from the monotony.
At the least, i was hopping that the next one would get further into wars like whats going on in the middle east, making even more open ended environments [/visions of grandeur]
i dont think i can go back to playing the same old gray normandy beach again, i vote for the pacifics -
They should do a vietnam one, there is no good vietnam shooters accpet bf vietnam but thats old. I also wish battlefield would do another bf1942, like a 2nd one thats more modern grapghics and has new maps and features like lean and sprint. Just think like the old one with all the battleships and planes but with nowaday graphics, it would be a amazing game. Bf2 was alright but 2142 is a joke imo its so lame and stupid. They should just go back in there series and redo ww2 and vietnam .
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Unconfirmed Jeff but maybe. Big red one and 3 by treyarch were only console. Alot of the next big titles are consoles only for now. Battlefield Bad company, gta IV.
-
What the next bf is console only that is so ****ty, im so pissed now. Bf shouldnt even be on consoles.
-
oh my god.... even by making the first 3 they did a mistake. You just starts playing and half a year later the game is outdated and you have to buy a new computer again. Whats wrong with making a good game that ppl compete in for years to come. Like Warcraft 3 or CS.
btw.... long live Day of Defeat! -

I think COD5 should be a two-part story.
The first part would be in WWII where some discovery is found and a huge conflict is made out of it. The character you play fails at totally succeeding in preventing the threat. So, fast forward to 2010 where you play a different character who stumbles upon it as well. Of course, the conflict finally comes to an end which saves the world once again.
This "discovery" could be a prototype weapon of mass destruction created by the Nazis and acquired by a fictional country bent on world domination. It's generic but it's the fact you get to play in both settings that counts. I think that would be one badass game that keeps up on the extremely cinematic tradition of the previous ones. -
For anyone wanting to play a pacific game, Battle for the Pacific is out now and is good fun for small amounts of time. I mean, there's no storyline, and the gameplay is 1980's stuff, but the outdoor levels in the jungle are breathtaking. It runs on Cauldrons new engine, same one used in SOF3. I couldn't believe how amazing it looked when I play it. Pretty demanding engine though, can only manage 1024x768 on my X1800XT.
Medal of Honor Pacific Assault was also OK, but generally, I far prefer Western theater then the East. Does anyone else feel that the Eastern front levels in Call of Duty 2 were just crap? They're so cliched, snow, cities, etc. There's no real atmosphere in them, everytime I play COD I always just play through the African and Eastern Front levels going 'God, come on, I just want to get to the Normandy part....' It's not an ignorance in History, because I study the Eastern Front both in college and in my spare time, but there's something about it that just isn't done justice in games.
@Raised Roofer....you've pretty much described the Game Mortyr. An FPS where half the game is set in 1944 and the other half 2093 140 years after the Germans won the war. Your aim is to travel back and forth to destroy a prototype German weapons or time altering device or some such. It was good in the day, but very old now. Mortyr II is a good game too and far newer but it's a regular WW2 FPS shooter.
-
Grrr..... That's my reaction to this news. I liked CoD, and CoD2 (loved is probably more accurate) I love CoD4. I briefly played CoD3 before taking it back (I don't like console shooters, and it felt like a crappy expansion pack for 2).
I'm tired of playing Western Theatre WWII games as the Allies during and post D-Day where victory is inevitable and all you do is shoot up a bunch of Nazis. That's why the Stalingrad levels of the first CoD were so awesome for me. I'm even more tired of PC gamers getting dumped on by not getting cross platform releases. I'm even more tired than that of companies hiring 3rd rate developers to milk franchises for all they're worth, rather than making sure each game is worth the name they slap on it.
I'd love to see a WWII game where you play as the French, or Polish, or maybe play on the Italian front, or as the Soviets during the long retreat, carrying through to the end of the war.
Activision should let IW work their magic on their own though, without the "help" of 3rd party developers. CoD4 is one of the most amazingly polished FPS games I've seen in a long time (when my only complaint is the auto-updater, that's a good sign). -
i hate games that focus on the american involvement. heck, american's weren't the only ones in the war. as brassmouse says, more nationalities would be awesome. even the poms. they don't get all that much coverage in ww2 shooters. (MOHAA: breakthrough had the italian front) but its a pity that single player is always play as the allies though.
Call of Duty 5, WWII AGAIN!!??!
