Lets talk about it.
Back to to WW2, looks they include better hand to hand combat, some really nice effects... I say looks pretty darn good.

i havent seen any videos or pics from it yet, but im still disappointed that they went back to WW2 as if they arent enough games based around WW1 and WW2.
-
Maybe they should have set it in like Vietnam or something because there are hardly any games like that. However, I don't care where it's set, I love any Call of Duty game unconditionally. Well except for the older console versions, they sucked. New console or PC though = AMAZING!

i think its time for CoD dev's to get the imagination wheels turning and give us post-modern combat.
-
ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
where i would have prefered either something like 4 where its set in the modern era or something set in the future.

WW2 is way too far overdone. I want to see some inter-galactic FPS. Lets go with a COD4 type game, except on jupiter or mars, with poisonus clouds of rain passing everyonce in awhile. A few dark red caverns. Maybe a dry canyon (like grand canyon)...and some very very cool rocky (crater filled) terrain.
-
The Flame thrower effects look hot (no pun intended), setting grass and buildings alight and watching it burn is awesome, something I really hope MP has!
I don't really care about the WW2 setting, as the game sounds so brutal we might be getting scenarios not yet done in a video game. -
Armageddon the official trailers and such are out on Youtube!!

ArmageddonAsh Mangekyo Sharingan
okay thanx. i might have a look at them
though im disappointed thats its back in WW2 i think as long as they keep the feel and atmosphere that COD4 had then i think it might be okay -
You know I have to say that i'm not really interested in another WWII game, especially now that cod4 is really come along nicely in the competitive community. I think Treyarch will make a nice game, but I dont think so many people in the cod4 community will embrace this so eagerly. I do hope they implement nice weapons so that the competitive aspect of the game can be done like cod2 (i.e. rifles).
Other than that i'm sure the game will sell millions of copies and be game of the year.
My question is will they expand on :MW or make an entirely new Modern theatre/game altogether?? -
Am I the only one who isn't tired of playing WWII games?
-
Am I the only one who thinks Call Of Duty 4 is really overrated? like worse than what people would say for Halo 2/3? -

Well all i need from this game is better non-jagged shadows for Persons, and fix the 7 series problems
-
Although it's another WWII game, I like that it's going to be set in the pacific theater. There aren't that many devs that try to tackle that. I would have liked it if Infinity Ward were doing it instead of Treyarch due to their last unimpressive attempt at a CoD game, but I'll give them the benefit of doubt.
Anyway, I hope we get to use samurai swords as the Japanese and climb the trees to shoot from! -
You have to give them some respect for pushing out COD3 on so many platforms in 8 months I think, I don't see why everyone hates on COD3, it was a very solid shooting game. They've had 2 years on COD5 so it's bound to be fantastic *like it looks now* if not very good. -

I think most people are disappointed that the games going back to WW2, but it's going to look great nonetheless. They had a lot of money to work with, especially because of the major success of COD4. I also would have liked to see something in set in the future... like BF 2142. I just hope that we can use vehicles, like a Humvee and other types of cars, maybe even an Apache
-
Played too many WW2 games, but not a single one in the PACIFIC.... so no matter how much I loved the Modern Warfare theme of COD4, I'm actually looking forward to COD5
-
It's not CoD5. I think they reserved the 5 for Infinity Wards next entry... since they actually do things well.
MGS3 has really made me love jungle combatSo I'm really looking forward to this. I just hope they have a nice camo system of some sort, and not make it just run and gun. I'm just happy that it won't be in Normandy.

I have to cast my vote to wish it was going to be modern combat again.
WW2 was a huge war, but its history. There are wars going on now and being able to emulate that struggle in a pretty awesome game like CoD4 was perfect.
Maybe they feel its too sensitive to use modern combat because it reminds people of whats really going on, but I am a Marine and I dont mind busting out my M4 and taking out some overseas folks anytime.
Also just from a pure game play perspective modern weapons are both cooler and more fun to play with.
CoD4 is one of the best games I ever played, its single player story was so well done, I especially really like the sniper mission. "Good Night"
Anyways CoD5 should be a great game I am sure, but I really do think its time to go modern, CoD4 was a big hit. So there has to be some reason they are rolling back to WW2 again and I think its because maybe they got some heat making a game so realistic based on current real life issues. -
What I really don't understand is why they don't launch expansions for COD4. I'd be the first in line to buy and play another history with the narrative force of the COD4 single player campaign. And don't tell me there aren't enough modern military technotrhilllers plots out there to inspire dozens of expansions.
-
they can't charge expansion as much money as a new game lol. i'm sure they have good reason but in the end it all boils down to financial decisions.
-
Infinity Ward isnt the one developing COD5 which is disappointing. While they do use the same engine (and so, I think, the game will be ok in that respect) and Treyarch does have experience making FPS's, I really dont think it will be anything like COD4... though it will probably still be entertaining. I say this because I have played both Treyarch and Infinity Ward's FPS's , and while Treyarch also makes good shooters, I personally think that up till now Infinity Ward always have done a better job.
-
yeah i'll take that over nothing. i'm more interested in what infinity ward is working on.
-
I think the WW2 setting will be MORE than made up for by the gameplay and graphics. Heck, are you going to not buy the game because of its setting alone?
-
I think [personally if the multilpayer is not as good as COD4 , that would be the game breaker here, and not the fact its in WW2 setting
-
Mr._Kubelwagen More machine now than man
Yeah, I'm excited solely for the fact that it's set in the P.T.O. The last good game that I played set there was Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault (Or whatever it was called). It's a fairly old game, now. I think it came out shortly after COD 1?
-
Yeah I wouldn't mind another quasi-historical installment for COD5. Definitely not WWII though, maybe Operation Iraqi Freedom.
-
-
If they were going to continue with the modern setting, I'd like to see them just go nuts and do a US v UK v Israel v Russia, etc. kind of story instead of US vs. some made up Muslim state.

Call of Duty 2 and 4 were awesome, Call of Duty 3 really sucked. Since the same development team that worked on CoD3 is working on CoD5 I wouldn't get too excited. Infinity Ward should develop every CoD game. Call of Duty 5 looks too generic.

Why couldn't they do more modern combat such as a possible war between say Australia and Indonesia or a flair up between the Koreas or perhaps even the Balkans conflict. Although its highly likely that I'll buy COD5 I doubt I'll have the 8 days of mutliplayer game time that I have had with COD4 so far...

i would have loved to see if they added more aerial missions .. But i guess not.. "death from above" - i loved that mission
