hi, ive just got CoD4 - modern warfare and CoD5 - world at war.
the resolution i'am running is 1920x1200
the graphic card is the (G80) XFX Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 640mb
what setting should i put this in?
currently im running all default except for the bump of resolution to 1920x1200.
is it best to leave the texture and what not settings to automatic, and the rest to medium/normal (default config)?
how do they determine automatic adjustments?
thanks

for you, the automatic will be set to max settings my friend. Meduim and normal are the max settings of the games.

This is for COD4 mostly, in your game options make sure you enable your console:
1. type the tilde key to open up the console while in game (tilde is the key next to the #1 key on your keyboard)
2. type /cg_drawfps 1 this will display your frames per second.. to turn it off type /cg_drawfps 0
3. play around with each setting until you get at least 70 or above FPS.. the game by default stops at 90 but most people have unlocked at 125 or 250 fps max
4. to do this type /com_maxfps 125 or /com_maxfps 250 or you can elave it at 90 if you choose.
now i can tell you which things take the most fps out of your game play but at the end you have to decide what do you like.. eye candy or FPS superiority?
Antialiasing, shadows, and resolution will cause the most FPS drops.. so maybe go with a lower res or turn down AA or shadows..but like i said its all up to what you like...
The game is definately playable at 50-60 but if your a hardcore/ competive gamer you want it higher..
And for some reason if chose the options for dual video cards it bosstes up your fps a bit..dont ask me why it just does..
any questions hit me up -
i also wondered waht the "automatic" meant.. should i leave it as automatic or if i do it manually, will i get better performance? i wish it would tell u what "automatic" is
-
it just means the game configures it self according to your hardware..
like i said if you set your self an FPS goal just play around with the settings until you get what you want... its not that hard.
go in to an empty server and play around witht the settiung until you find a number you like.
you can also use xfire, fraps to display FPS but in cod4 its a built in feature... look at my post above -
so im guessing its better to do it manually because u can set your own instead of the game doing it for u

thanks sobek and brainer. i repped you... though that FRAPS tips is a bit too much for me.
what i want to know is that the Game will set the settings to the MAX quality! i want eyecandy!
will automatic automatically set my game to the max?
it would be best if under automatic they let us see (greyed out) the settings they pick/recommend for our system. -
yes, automatic is max for you, trust me, if you want more IQ, then increase AA and AF
Call of Duty Settings (what automatic?)
