Alright guys, I just wanted to know what is the minimum PC (NOT LAPTOP) graphics card I can buy to be able to play games such as Call of Duty 4, upcoming Call of Duty 5, Crysis Warhead, Bioshock, etc. on max settings (Does not include 1900 x 1200 resolution) and good enough FPS to be playable. I would buy the new Radeon 4870 X2, but it is quite pricey and only want to buy what I need as I am trying to save as much money as I can.

Get an 8800GTX. Best bang for your buck right now.. you can find them used around $100-$125, and they will play all those games you listed at high settings. Well.. COD 5 isn't out yet so I can't say that for sure but it probably will.

Are you talking about a desktop? Then, a GTX260 would be fine.

How much are you looking to spend? Going SLI with a pair of high-end cards from a previous generation could be your best bet

I think he asked for minimum, not the top Geforces right now...

My old computer had a terrible Radeon that rendered COD4 on medium-high settings with 0 lag. But in recent times, you don't want the worst card, get a mid-range card. Possibly the 9600 or 9700 (nvidia wise). If you have the money though SLI 9800GTX++++++ all the way ftw!

OK, what is the minimum graphics card needed in a PC (Not laptop) to play Call of Duty 4 on everything max with a resolution 1680 x 1050 resolution?

    No SLI or Crossfire, please!

COD games aren't that demanding on desktop machines. I'd check out the ATI 4850 myself, it is high performance at a bargain price.

Or if you have a 360 buy the vga cable (40 bucks) and hook it to any CRT monitor and have HD Graphics...thats what i did. I hooked my 360 to an old 17 inch CRT and i get some prety fancy gaming.

Disclaimer: I do that because my x3100 cant handle anything besides pong

If you take a look at the benchmarks or head on over to desktop review, you will see that the ATI cards are superior to the Nvidia cards in overall price and performance.

    One SAPPHIRE 100257L Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 should do the trick. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102797 $250.00

    If not then the: SAPPHIRE 100245L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 $159.99 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102770

Stay away from these ****ty 9600 GT's, and 8800GTX's, the 4850 outpreforms them by a large margin.

As for the GTX 280, the 4870 preforms the same for a whole lot less. I can't see an option where ATI isn't the better one :p

As for your thread, you may wanna start talking about notebooks before it finds it's way in the Desktop Review website mysteriously :)

Ati 4850 is a great choice. It offers some very high end preformance for a low price.
