Logged into Steam for the first time this week and saw that Call of Juarez is on sale for $10. I usually only log on during the week and miss the sales but I bought Prey for $5 a few weeks back and it was definitely worth it. Just wondering if any of you guys thought it was worth $10 or if it was so bad I shouldn't waste my HDD space, also I didn't see a thread about this but if theres one around sorry for double posting.

I enjoyed it.
Played it from start to finish.
Need a reasonably powered PC to turn up the GFX though -
Its more of a hit and miss game. some will like it and others wont. I rented for my xbox 360 and I thought it was bad! but for $10 I say its worth the risk of you likeing it or not. I would say get it its only $10 which is really cheap!

Hey there's a couple of things to consider with this game. It is a solid FPS, nothing amazing but not terrible. I enjoy the genre and try to play most of the better FPS, so here's my opinions summarized:
+ Looks very good with settings pushed up - especially locales
- Resource hog even with a powerful PC - I experienced better performance with Crysis prepatched (both at 1680x1050)
- Characters look odd or stiff
+ Good gameplay including the shooting aspect and stealth sections
+ 'bullet time' mode implemented well
- Stealth sections can be trial-and-error at times and frustrating
+ Reasonable length with interesting story-telling
+ Enjoyable musical score
+ Duels!
- Duels!
I picked it up for around $10 a few months back, played through it and enjoyed it. Hope this helps
I'd suggest you give it a try. -
I just bought it before the deal goes down. Hope I enjoy it, I ran out of FPS games to play. Painkiller is more of a 15minutes at a time thing...though I finished Prey.

The game has issues running DirectX 10 so that's something to keep in mind. Performance takes a hit, too. Stick to DX 9 if you can.

The link still works, you can always give it a run through and see how your performance will be. From what I remember, FPS ran on the high end for me (~35-40) for the majority of the game, but there were a few areas of slowdown. -
I actually picked it up on Steam too for $10, downloading now, but bought it for the 360 when it came out and I really enjoyed it. Was actually hoping a few weeks back it'd get cheap on Steam so I could snag it and play through again on the pc. good game though, not perfect, but I like the setting.

Loved it on 360.

i just got it off steam for ten bucks, i like it, its fun. and the graphics are pretty good, dx-10 versus dx-9 is a decent ammount of difference visually.

i agree with billiam, played it a year ago and liked it very much, games based on the old west are very rare these days and this game is defenitely the best of them!, however the game is brought down by the frustratinf and trial-and-error reliant stealth sections but these still offer a good amount of variety. CoJ is defenitely the best old-west shooter ever released!, played Gun too but i thought it was very medicore and simply couldn't bring myself to finish it!!...

+1 I'm playing it now and I'm enjoy it.

If you missed out on the Steam deal or would rather have the game on physical media, you can still buy CoJ for $10+shipping through the Amazon marketplace. It ships from J&R, which has a pretty good reputation as an e-tailer.

Anyone looking forward to the new episode: Call of Juarez - Bound in blood?

I enjoyed the original so I'll probably pick this one up as well. -
While some people really didn't like the pace of this game, I love it, and mainly because it's just about the only wild west themed game of recent, and it had a nice adventurous storyline that took you across miles and miles of landscape. The game kept changing between two main charactors and their own point of view on the situation which kept the gameplay going back and forth between stealth and hiding from enemies, to shooting everything up. It's a nice change, performance wasn't all that great, and when I first played it I had an MR X1600 notebook that played it pretty terrible, but if you have an 8800 based nVidia card or better, or any of the HD4xxx series cards it'll run maxed out smoothly in any resolution in DX9.
I think I'll definately be picking this sequel up if it retains the length and style of the first.
