I was playing yesterday COD4 online, when suddenly after loading a new map, start to play slow, no excessively but enough to don't let me aim right, I quit the game, check the processes active, check for virus, defrag..., nothing
I went back to the game and try to bring down the graphics, and nothing happened, the speed is the same, its not really slow, its just choppy, not smooth anymore, it really bothers me, I'm using a Macbook pro 3.1, with bootcamp winxp home edition, Core duo 2 2,2, 8600m gt, 2gb ram.
I can't re-install the game., maybe any of you can help me out here

How hot is the laptop getting? Maybe the video card is downclocking. Download HWMonitor:
    http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php
Run it and see what your graphics card temperature is.

I have something strange going on with cod4 online also:

My cod4 is going smooth on high settings, I install a new driver from laptopvideo2go, like I always do. I start up cod4 multiplayer and I got like 20 fps and with the previous driver I had 70 fps.. I got this with allmost every new driver I install so It's not driver related i think. And then, when i reinstall cod4 it runs smooth again...

maybe i just need to re-install the game, the problem is i lost the CD, i can't play single player anymore, i don't care, i just want online, is nto possible to get just the online part from the internet, I still have the original cd-key, if it is about the temperature, what can I do? put a block of Ice under the laptop and COD4 will run faster? ;)

i don't think it has anything to do with temps, usually when your GPU gets too hot you would get a message saying your graphics drive has stopped working properly and the game just stop running.

it's still illegal to download a copy with bittorrent or something like that but since you have the CD key i think that 'd make it okay or at least less illegal

well, I just find out its slow in all the games I have, UT3, COD4, all of them, I install several programs to check the thing out a little bit more, everything seems right, everest tell me 59 degrees for cpu 66 for gpu after running 3dmark06.

I used fraps to count the fps in COD4 with terrifying results: 19 fps avrg. i think was like 50 before, and 3dmark06 just scared me more: 928!!!, something is very wrong inside my computer, and I don't have a clue, works fine in leopard, works fine in xp sp3, but playing games in xp its the problem.
I went on google and see some 3dmark06 results for the same computer as mine (apple macbook pro 3.1) and is the following:

this is f*****g sh**, I don't know what I did wrong with it.
anyone know how to fix this, if is fixable... :( ?
    thx

Well...it could be do to the graphics card overheating. Try to get some temperature readings while playing some games.

Another thing I would try after that is to update your graphics cards drivers, or just reinstall your current drivers.

Lastly make sure you don't have anything running in the background (but it looks like you already checked for this).
