I hope they win the lawsuit. I am sick of greedy companies getting away with crap.
-
I feel sorry for those guys at Infinity Ward that got fired. Man, getting dragged out of work like that and basically being tossed to the curb.
-
They should win the lawsuit, and then join Valve (Or similar successfull studio) and pwn Activision! xD
-
This just got more interesting:

It seems like both top ex-heads of IW were flirting with EA (or maybe other outside companies), possibly trying to break away from Activision. -
Battlefield pwns MW anyway. Those two people should have no problems finding jobs at ANY studio.
Any to those people who bought MW2 instead of sticking with the boycott, shame on you. I'm not spending a single cent on companies that treat its employees like this. -
very unfair practice...activision deserves a harrier airstrike -
US$36 million in damages sounds a bit rich, but this is the United States litigation system so if it succeeds most of the franchise fans won't grudge the winners their reward.
-
* who, I am sure, contributed to the debacle of the MW2 PC version. They do not get my sympathy. -

Yep. You know, after all this I wouldn't doubt it that MW2 could have been better had Activision and their CEO Bobby KoDICK stayed out of IW's business while they worked on MW2. Maybe we would have had dedicated servers and a better campaign.
-
Your all jumping on the IW guys side.. but you don't know both sides of the story and none of us unless we have direct inside info will ever know...
I also tend to think trying to sue the company will possibly hinder them getting jobs again in the industry.. Wouldn't a perspective employer see this as a bad thing ? -

Wow that's a terrible business practice. As posted, we don't know the whole story though.

Either way, I'd still root for Infinity Ward rather than Acti-Blizzard with that needs-to-die CEO of theirs.
-
Holy ....!
They just fired them in order to not pay them? If that is true, honestly, how low can you possibly get?
Guess I can stop looking forward to a GOOD Modern Warfare 3 game.... -
-
and in most instances like this, its the game developer who gets the raw end of the deal with the game publisher laughing all the way to the bank.
-
Realistically talking these guys won't blink over $36 million, maybe it's the prelaw student in me but its all about punitive damages. The only way you can really teach a lesson in humility to monsters like the execs in Activision who've grown complacent and arrogant is a staggering punitive reward, and I guarantee $36 million wont be close to enough to make them think twice about these disgusting actions...frankly it will never even get close to $36 mil even if its awarded after an appeals court gets through with a decision like that by a jury. -
-
Assuming the revenues for the franchise really have grossed over a billion, I still think the amount of damages stated is over the top. Looking at it from a non-gaming standpoint, most people wouldn't associate one game with double-figure millions of dollars in lawsuits.
I still stand by my earlier statement that fans won't grudge the developers their cash if they pull off what is likely to be an impossible job. -
gamers lose cause there will be no good mw3.
-
And I don't care what happened, Actipissin can kma especially with that money hungry CEO. I know we don't have both sides of the story, but in either case, short of committing murder I don't think the IW guys deserve this kind of treatment. They lose good talent, and screw them in the process.
This is why I hope all major game publishers fail in a huge way. I'd rather get back to smaller development houses running the show. At least they're most likely to listen to customers and pour all their blood, sweat, and tears into it because it is their livelihood, not just a paycheck from a tyrannical overlord.
Let's hope wherever these IW guys go they beat the pants off Activision with their next release. It is sad though that Activision would screw with the success of Modern Warfare like that. -

If this news doesn't have to do with dedicated servers, it doesn't have to do with me.

Im sick and tired of people comparing those two games.. The ONLY thing they share is the fact that its modern warfare, like tons of other games. Other than that its just the same thing as in any other game.. and no, BC2 is not like "the beta version of mw2" (what the **** ever that is), MW2 is the same old boring Call of duty engine which is just so plain, while BC2 presents a whole new experience to FPS gaming.
EDIT: and ofcourse, bc2 takes skills to play, unlike mw2 where its just to place the enemy somewhat near the crosshair, then just spray n pray and you are sure to kill something because recoil doesnt exist. -
I would really like to believe that Activision screwed over IW for this game, but we will wait til the whole story comes out. -
This made me lol -
-
Bungie's getting a pretty good deal though. They get to remain completely independent and retain all rights to their IP. Probably the deal that West and Zampella wanted before being fired. It's funny though that this announcement came days after Activision got sued by more IW employees.
In related news, Treyarch's next CoD is Call of Duty: Black Ops. I wasn't planning on buying anyway, but I was hoping for something in Vietnam. It still might be, but doubtful with that title. -
