    Hi,

I recently purchased a Dell Studio 17 with:

    Intel Core 2 Duo T6600, 2.2GHz, 800Mhz, 2M L2 Cache
    4GB, DDR3, 1066MHz, 2 DIMM
ATI MOBILITY RADEON HD 4570 512MB
    500G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

Now, I am being told that I need the Intel Core i7, as opposed to the Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 in order to run Microsoft Flight Simulator X?

Being tht I am pretty ignorant when it comes to computers, i don't know if I am being bull-poo-pooed, or if this is true.

Does anybody know about the difference between the core 2 duo T6600 versus the i7? And will the core 2 duo T6600 run the flight simulator well?

You'll run the game, but the i7 processor will make the game run faster all else being equal.

Strange considering FSX was released long before the Core i(X) processors were even heard of. I can play FSX just 'fine' on low/medium setting on my sig lappy. On my gaming desktop (Q6600) I an run everything on highest settings.

Flight Simulator X SP2 runs happily on a dual core AMD Turion x2 2 GHz and a Nvidia Geforce Go 7200.
So i bet you can run it too. :)

It should run but if u had a core i7 processor and GTX260M at least , it would run on high.. an ideal candidate would be ASUS G51J for $1499 and lower on some online stores..

    Who lied to you?

I've run Flight Simulator X on an old old AMD Athlon64 CPU.

FSX will run on just about anything with low settings. However, if you want to make it look pretty you will need a decent graphics card, plenty of RAM, but most important of all, a FAST CPU. An i7 should suit FSX nicely.

You gotta know he difference between "can run" and "can run nicely". Yes, with that configuration, you can run the game. But recommend with a better processor and graphic. I can run the game on low setting on my lenovo T61 with Core 2 duo 1.8; 128 mb mobile intel graphic card and 3gb of ram.
