I have a Dv2000 laptop with AMD Turion 64 2.0 ghz processor. I think it is possible to switch the processor to a dual core AMD Turion 64 x2 processor. So is it possible and is it worth it? The price is not a problem since ive seen many on ebay. Thanks in advance.

What are you doing with the laptop? Is this an email/doc machine, or are you thinking of gaming or video-editing?
For the former, if you can get a Turion x2 at 2Ghz or better for <$100, you might see some performance improvement. If you want to do more graphics-hungry things, I would upgrade the whole thing to a new rig (maybe one of the Asus G-series, or a Toshiba Qosmio).
Also, If you're running Vista or 7, you'll probably see about as much performance increase bumping up to 4Gb of RAM (if you're at 1-2Gb now), as you would getting a faster cpu. You'll almost always get more performance per dollar adding RAM than upgrading the cpu. -
If you do anything else than browsing + simple tasks in general, then yes.

u should be able too but seriously the turrions are so crap so ur hardly going to se a difference.. IMO , save ur money and get anothe laptop.

i agree, save up and get a new laptop
but if that's not possible, dual core makes a HUGE difference
if i had a choice between a 2.8ghz single core and a 1.8ghz dual core, i would pick the dual core just so it runs smoothly when you multitask
Can I and should I switch to Dual Core?
