I have an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600, and I thought I'd have 512mb on it, but instead I have this:

1779MB.. Is there a way I can decrease this in hopes of gaining performance in games? Oh, and will it gain performance if I decrease this?

It's probably showing the complete amount of onboard and shared memory. You have 512 onboard and the rest is shared with system RAM. And no, reducing that number should not have any positive impact on performance. If it has any impact in fact, it should be negative.
