Now that the game has gone F2P, a lot of my friends have started playing the game and I was wondering if there is a way for me to host a game like I would do in Minecraft so that we can play a private match?

Yep, you can host a listen server from within the game itself.

but I heard something about not being able to join on the host's computer? Would that be the case for this way of hosting a server?

for some reason i've never been able to get friends to connect to a server started by clicking the + on the "browse servers" button, but that may just be my firewall/port forwarding settings

I don't need it, but you just click on the little white scales icon under the user's name in the post you want to rep: [IMG]
