Can I play Myst 5 without ever playing previous versions?

I have never played previous versions of Myst and I am now wondering if I can still play Myst 5 without knowing its story. Will it still make sense to me and will I be able to solve those puzzles in the game without ever playing previous versions.

My understanding from the reviews I've read is that you can play Myst 5 without having played the previous ones. They say there is enough retelling of the previous stories in the game to figure out what is going on.
