    Firstly World of Warcraft recommended system requirements is :
    Windows® 2000/XP
    Intel Pentium® IV 1.5 GHz or Amd XP 1500+
    1024 MB RAM
    64 MB 3D graphics card with Hardware Transform and Lighting, such as an NVIDIA® GeForce™ FX 5700 class card or above

    And the notebook I want to play the game on is an old system :

    Acer Aspire AS5512 AWLMi

    * Intel mobil Centrino M735 1,73 GHz 2 MBL2 Cache
    * 512 MB DDR-II
    * 80 GB S-ATA (5400rpm)
    * ATI Mobility Radeon X700 PCI 128 MB
    * 15,4'' WXGA Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD
    * DVD-RW Dual Double Layer
    * Entegre 10/100 Ethernet
    * Entegre 56K modem
    * Onboard Sound Card
    * Wireless 802,11b/g, /Bluetooth/Analog+Digital TV Tuner

    With an upgrade of 1gb ddr2 ram can I play World of warcraft on this system?
    (with acceptable detail or minimum detail)

    That laptop should have no problems running WoW, but you will need 1GB of RAM to do it smoothly.

    The X700 is much better than the X300.

    5512 for gaming, 5102 for general operations and cpu intensive work. Personally I'd take the 5512.

    You should have no problem with that game as long as you upgrade to 1 GB of RAM.

    I'd go with the x700 for gaming. For a little more, you can get a more current system from Acer though. That would give you better performance and a longer lifespan for this notebook. Something like the Aspire 5112 or even the Aspire 5672 come to mind.

    The Acer 5672 is a good suggestion, look into that. If you must choose between those two, then go for the 5512 as posted. The Radeon X700 is far more powerful than the X300.
